While looking at the beach the trail starts on the left. look for a little bridge in-between the main
parking lot and a second smaller one, on the west side.) the trail starts there near the water.
About two miles into the trail you will come to a three way intersection, take a left turn. (there is
a sign for the right turn that sends you to the lake barkley lodge dont go that way) about a mile
after the 3-way intersection you will come up to a really challenging hill. The hill has a few switch
backs and sever drop-ins. Near the top of this hill it dumps out onto an Atv/ service road. look
for the main trail on your left. About a half mile from the big hill you will cross State Park Road.
The next intersection you encounter turn right. After a series of quick down hill switch backs you
will come to an intersection. Head straight/ leftish to stay on the main trail, it will lead you to
some technical/ rocky riding. The next intersection you will need directions for will be after the
camping sites. Look for a park trail head sign(north westerly) The trail will go down hill and
dump into a field adjacent to the beach.
The short track starts in the field adjacent to the beach( south side,,, where the main track
dumps out at) Go down the left side of the field along the woods to the most southernly trail
head. The trail will go up a hill. At the intersection take a left,( a right will take you to the camp
sites and the main trail) the next turn is a sharp left. Then the trail dumps out back into the field.
take a left on the perimeter of the woods to do another lap.
Murray State Cycling maintains the trail and as of 7-7-08 the trail is in great condition. The trail
rating is advanced. This trail offers harder and longer hills than the cannal loop, fast down hills,
great twisty sections and some very tough technical rocky sections.
