A wooden footbridge spans a small creek in a wooded area. The surrounding landscape is covered in fallen leaves and dry grass, with bare trees visible in the background. A yellow trail marker is positioned nearby, indicating a hiking path. Dark Hollow mountain bike trail.

Mountain Biking Dark Hollow

****   Add a review
#93 of 300 mountain bike trails in Virginia
#3,312 in the world

Dark Hollow is a network of old walking trails that a local land owner has given permission for local riders to improve the trails for Mountain Biking and walking. At the moment there is 3.5 miles of trails and work is being done every third Saturday of the month. The work team has a trail building machine and plenty of help.

The trails are fun to ride with all the new berms that have been added. There are some small jumps and one wooden drop in the trails with more promised. The ride is not very technical just nice flowing single track. The next section to be worked on will be a downhill section.

Fun, good beginner to intermediate trails. Watch out though there is no longer a kids playing sign so keep your eyes peeled on the right side of the road for an opening that drops down into the forest.
