Mountain Biking Jardine Juniper

****   Add a review
#106 of 710 mountain bike trails in Utah
#2,906 in the world

The trail is clearly marked and well traveled. Beware of hikers and horses, especially in the first few miles. The trail starts out in a sagebrush meadow and slopes gently upward for about two miles before taking you up switchbacks to a higher aspen meadow. Again climbing gently and again starting a set of switchbacks to the rim (~2100' total elevation gain). Pass an old gnarly juniper and some amazing views before the trail forks -> "scenic route" and "shady route". Take either and do both because they form a loop.

**Keep an eye for a trail leading down the east side of the loop and a sign for the "Jardine Juniper" - a very worthwhile sidetrip to an ancient tree.

The return is a fast, smooth singletrack descent with excellent views.

Easily one of my favorite trails in Logan Canyon. The uphill is challenging at times, but the downhill is a blast. The views are great as you climb towards the upper section. The trail splits when you are almost to the top into a loop. It's worth doing the whole loop as long as you are there.

Possibly one of the most fun trails I have been on. The climb is pretty constant, but it is very rewarding with the scenery and downhill.

Pretty constant solid climb for most of the ride. You have one fun creek crossing that can be pretty crazy at the beginning of riding season. Pretty cool to drop down and see the old tree and the view down the canyon, although it isn't a fun ride back up from it. Downhill from Jardine is awesome and fast and furious.

I agree with previous reviews about the rocky start, but that's a short section with huge payoffs on the higher singletrack and beautiful scenery. Smooth, fast, flowy descent. Be sure to stop at the Juniper and check out the views down the canyon. Great midsummer ride as it's always cooler up there than down in Ogden or Salt Lake.

We went up this a few weeks ago. Great ride. A little rocky at the bottom but nothing anyone with a little experience can not overcome. The switchbacks were long and fun. GREAT RIDE.

A classic Logan canyon ride. I rode it last month for the first time in 8 years and it hadn't changed much. The bottom few miles are a bit rocky, but nothing un-ridable. Once you reach the first saddle the trail smooths out for some fast singletrack uphill. Best ridden early or late, as lots of hikers like this one too. Also be careful of mud before May, as it's pretty sticky.

The bottom section is rough and rocky. The trail is a constant climb to the top, but you do get to enjoy coming back down.
