Mountain Biking Northeast Park

#140 of 549 mountain bike trails in North Carolina

Trail can be ridden both directions; real fast sweet single track, be carefull of the horses as part of trail is shared as a horse trail, trail is clearly marked. Once you enter the park head to the pinic shelters and the entrence to the trail is direcltly behind the playground and pinic area. There is one really technical hill that to the left is modest but if taken to the right goes up over a tree and drops almost 90 degrees. But overall the trail is a real fast fun singletrack.

Perhaps when I rode out here and it was super muddy, I got a bad feel for the place. Part of the trail was closed. I will ride it again when it dry. Overall feeling, very flat, not much of interest.

Fun but confusing trails aren't mark very welll. Some great potential but I spent more time trying to figure out where I was them I'd like. It doesn't have a great flow but worth it if your close by. I'd go back

Relatively flat trail throughout with several sections of roots. Two technical sections, but great beginners trail. Biggest complaint is lack of trail markings. The park has trails for horses only, hiking only and biking/hiking, but markings were non-existent. Be sure to study the trail map prior to going.

This trail has potential to be great. With some berms and jumps it would flow like wild turkey. It's a fun ride with a few short climbs.

This was a very fun trail for our group. We range in age from 51 - 8, this was a perfect challenge for us all. Lots of roots, not very busy. The water crossing was great on a hot August day.

Front half of the trail was closed this week for some major park renovations. Not sure how long it will be down, park employees say they are putting in a carousel and train.

Fun and fast trail. Lots of good riding and plenty of trail to enjoy especially if you cross over the low water to the additional 2-3 miles.

interesting. There isn't much difficult that I found, but there may be, there is virtually no trail marking other than just bike-hike only/horse only. the trail it self is fun enough, nothing to get excited about for me. will probably go back. and the trail has very poor drainage in several parts

Rode recently and the trail is in great shape! It is now 2+ years old and burned in great. This trail does not get enough credit in the Greensboro trail system! The ride along the ridge line next to the river is awesome and has great views. Do it in reverse and it is a whole new trail.

Rode today and did 2 laps and crossed the river both times doing one way and then reverse.

The trail is now starting to get packed down and faster so it flows much better and we had a blast maintaining a 10.1 average over the 15 miles.

The pine tree field maze is now a ton of fun. There is a grove for a MTB bike that is not much bigger than your tire to use as a line and it is hard packed in spots then loose and sandy in others. That section is like a race track where you can fly and try to stay on line while drifting in the sandy corners..very cool feeling while racing your riding buddies.

This trail is only about 2 years old, but time is making this more fun than ever. Today was absolutely awesome. I recommend it if you want an option to Owls Roost, Bald Eagle, Reedy Fork or Wild Turkey.

Although this is an easy trail it is still very fun. I went for the first time a couple of days ago and had a blast. This trail is for anyone. And although someone said this is a fast trail, it is, but it has some very tight turns that slow you down alot. It has a lot of whoopdedoos and a really cool gravity cavity with a jump in the middle, and it's only made to go one way, if you start the trail on the left you'll want to avoid it by going straight out into the field and it loops you around to the otherside. If you start the trail on the right I would definatly try to ride it. I did it 5 times, and I plan on going back next week sometime with my camera to record going down it and over the jump. It also has a real cool section through pine trees that is completely flat but it turnes left and right and u turns all over and it's really fun to fly through, just be careful of the horses, you can come around one of those blind turns and end up running into the back of a horse. The pinetrees are about 15-20 feet tall now. It is kinda easy to get lost though, just make sure you follow any sign that says bike so you don't get lost. I give this a pretty good score for any rider, even the advanced rider will have fun.

Since it is a new trail, more time on it with tires smoothing out the trail and getting it more packed and broken in will take time.

Some horse riders break the rules and ride on mountain bike trails only and can damage the surface.

It isn't real fast but it is long and fun in either direction. There is a cool gravity cavity that has a neat ride around so you can do it over and and over without having to re-ride the loop to get to it again. You can just drop into the cavity and let momentum carry you back up the other side or you can take a jump to the right and catch air at the bottom. You also have a couple of lines to take out of the cavity which gives you options for fun and challenge.

Right after the gravity cavity, there are a couple of boulder jump options that are do-able if you trust your front suspension. It looks huge, but it rolls nice, just be brave.

The back side of the loop is beautiful as it runs along a high ridge over looking the river below. NIce views make you feel like you're in the mountains. As you come down, it gets fast on a tight, rocky ridge line. Don't bust here or you'll end up in the river with rocks under the water waiting to make you pay a high price.

There is a maze that winds through a young pine tree field. At first we thought this was boring, but now it is getting broken in and can be a fun fast race track that allows you to pedal hard into the corners as you weave through the maze. The pines are growing fast and are now more than head high. In time, as the trees grow and this becomes a forest, this will be a neat experience and perhaps one of the areas coolest trail section. Nothing technical, but the trail section allows you to test how fast you can go while staying off the brakes. It's fun to race your fellow riders through here.

Be aware though. I have on one instance flew around the corner to find myself on the back end of a horse that should not be there and spooked the horse and me. * Review edited 12/28/2007

I was torn with this track. It is in GREAT condition and seems to only be getting better and can be a decent workout. There are very few technical spots, mainly small rock crossings, and a few very tight turns. It is certainly built for speed. Most of the trails in the Triad area differ from one another enough that everyone can find one to fit their style of riding. This one fits into the fast style. This is a very good trail, so I still gave it a decent score, but the shortness in length and lack of "tech" make it not worth it for me to drive 40 or so minutes to get there. * Review edited 10/3/2007

This is a fun, fast flowing trail. Lots of quick ups and downs. No really big climbs. A couple of tight areas near the creek, some rock gardens, and small jumps over rocks or logs with go arounds. You can ride the entire 5-6 mile loop rather quickly. Takes me about 30 minutes. I usually ride it once forward and the once backwards. Worth the car ride to NE park. About 30 minutes from Bur Mill area.* Review edited 9/30/2007
