Good to see a review of Blora. Been YEARS since I stopped by there. Is it still accessible from the east (from 439)?

The green trail is about 3.8 miles in length. For the most part it is well marked. The last 3/4 mile is uphill. Lots of rocks on the trail.

I'm only going to give this a three star because the beginner section wasn't bad and it was fun going back to the basic. Tried the intermediate section today and was disappointed, not only is it really rocky but the trail is overgrown with branches and fallen trees everywhere. The trail wasn't really marked well and lost the trail twice and the Ramos and bridges that was added have fallen apart, if the biking community came together and fixed the trails then I think it would be a lot more fun and have more rider's come. Hoping to try Dana Peak and see what they have to offer.

This trail started off simple as first. The trail markings are not kept up by BLORA. Also the trail maintenance looks like it hasn't been touched in years. The trail ratings for the different rider levels do match, and a lot of parts are extremely challenging. If they would fix those two things, this would be a kick-ass trail.

Haven't been out to BLORA in some time due to a deployment. The signage is still good and well marked. Quite a few sections of trail are overgrown with spring/summer growth. It doesn't look like too many people have been visiting the trail system as these areas would have gotten worn down. It's a challenging xc course. Lots of loose rock in areas and some pretty extensive rock garden areas. Lots of shaded areas to ride in. It makes a great training course for technical terrain negotiation. Trail access is free for military and $3 for Civillians. There is only one real down hill area "medivac mountain", other than that you are looking at a lot of pedaling. This trail is a great place to build skills. There is also a beginner loop that is pretty much flat grassy fire roads. Trail maps are free at the office. Make sure and sign in at the office before entering the trail system. Grab a card while you are there so you can call them on your way out. They like to track who is on the trail so in case someone is out too long they know something is wrong since it's an under used trail. I would suggest this trail to any beginning riders who want to work on skills and any other riders who like a good workout.

Definitely not the best. Unkept trails and I swear there are cactus needles strategically placed to puncture my front tire each time I ride there. Good for a quick local ride but nowhere near recommended if you have other options

I've ridden a few trails and I have to say I really do like this trail. Rocky in places but just to the point is makes it technical. Worth ridding.

Learned to ride here. Challenging. Some areas are grown but most still good. Lots of technical rocky areas. Also has some fast single track. There is a advanced trail that is pretty extreme. There is also a very easy loop for those learning to ride. I've ridden there many times. It's a decent change of scenery.

7/12/13 I do agree with the last two reviews. My brother and I hit the trails about 8:00 am. The temp was 85 F & cloudy. It had just rained the night before but the trails were dry & tacky. If you know anything about Ft. Hood, when it rains, it grows rocks. I used a single speed hard tail and that made the ride fun. Having the shower by the Trailhead was worth the $3.00 fee per person. See you on the trails. J.J.

They provide a color trail map at the front desk. The trails arent marked as good as they should be. The expert trail wasnt difficult and it consisted of lots of loose rock. I would suggest this for place for beginners. I will bring my 11 yr old to help build his confidence.

Great Trail, somewhat technical. Some rock gardens here and there. Well worth the trip.

Somewhat technical. Worth riding. I'm a novice and avg 8 mph without trying hard.

After riding in Colorado for a couple weeks I didnt think Texas would have any good trails but I had a blast on this trail. It's very rocky in some spots and technical but all around fun. You can switch between the beginner and intermediate trails which is great if you aren't quite sure if you can make some of the intermediate drops. I also liked how the trail goes one way so you don't have to worry about riders coming at you enabling you to go as fast or as slow as you please. Just be sure to go to the actual BLORA grounds and get a ticket for the park before you ride.

Had a great time out there today fun technical and pretty demanding trail I left a little bloody and blew up my rear shock, very rocky lots of twist with some tight switch backs don't be afraid to ride it I assume moving slow could be a terrible trail

well since my last edit, all the new trail section has also been closed and rerouted. All the good fun stuff that was in that section toward the final climb is gone. Now it's just the final climb. All in all the intermediate trail is a mile plus shorter and way less fun than it used to be years ago.

I am glad folks new to the area seem to think it's a nice trail.* Review edited 10/8/2012

Even Lance Armstrong came to BLORA and raced here. He did tumble at Devil's Backbone, but still won (of course).
It's been a very long time since I've ridden this trail, but I remember it quite well, demanding for sure, but a whole lot of fun. Steep climbs, fun descents. One long uphill section had a lot of rocks and it was tricky to maneuver through it, but all of the trails were rideable! Doesn't the course description says advanced? Maybe it has change over the years, but probably not too much.
We too were once part of the Trailblazers (1989 - don't remember) and had a great time on our group rides.

Folks it is true there is no club anymore. Soldiers used to maintain the place; I was one--even a club officer. The club's heydays were 1998-2002. BLORA Admin does its best to keep signage up and felled trees removed.

Still it is an awesome ride. Yeah there's some rocks. True of all Texas trails.

Very scenic. Don't ride the upper trails above Medevac descent if it's muddy--clay soil composition.
