Great trail for the locals and anyone visiting I have yet to ride every mile but the areas that I have rod have been a blast I look forward to covering more ground this year and further updating my review

One of the best trails I have been to in Michigan. Awesome views

This is a beautiful trail system set among a network of lakes. The trails can be confusing if you aren't familiar with them and there are only a few markers. There is also a charge which you pay in cash or check at the trail head. Overall a very fun and flowy course. There are some sharp turns, tough climbs and steep downhills ending in sand pits as well as a few bridges that make it a somewhat technical ride and challenging ride. This is definitely one of my favorite places to ride, highly recommended but do check the schedule for seasonal closures.

Rode the black trail. VERY HILLY! It was a sufferfest for us. This is the first time my boys wanted to find a way out of a trail, and I was sucking wind too. All downhills are greeted by a sand pit at the bottom, killing momentum. Might be good for some, but I won't be back.

very expensive for a day ride, but I was in the area.
Anyway a really fun trail. Sandy and almost all built to be sustainable. The back of the Expert Loop gets a bit fun and rowdy. Some great downhill sections that are a blast if you can let it rip. A couple surprise fast turns that require sudden braking.

I previously reviewed this trail from a 2008 ride. I just rode these trails this weekend, and found the area completely changed. There is a new trail system to replace the old trails, and I only found a few spots where the old trails were used. There are 4 loops. The two beginner loops are short and intersect each other several times. The older one is part singletrack, but also uses gravel roads. The brand new one is all singletrack. The intermediate loop goes around the lake and has some very nice views. The expert loop is a nice extension on the intermediate loop.
All the the singletrack is narrow, fast, and flowy. There are no real technical features besides a few bridges and some sand that is typical of the area. I was surprised by the lack of roots. The "intermediate" and "expert" designations must come from the elevation change only. There are some challenging hills, but nothing overly difficult. These trails are a blast to ride! I won't wait over 7 years to come back this time!

Great trail system lots of hill climbs. With even better down hill sections. Very scenic but also very confusing trail system very easy to get lost. They are producing more trail right now for a shorter beginner loop and it is very to easy to wind up on those and be on unmarked trails. Great place to go especially if you are in the area.

Trail is closed now. Iti s closed during the Scout Camp season from the 2nd Saturday for June through the 3rd Saturday of August. Then again for the month of November. Really a bummer as those are 3 of the prime riding months of the year. Bummed because I drove here on a great evening for a ride, only to discover this. I ended up driving an hour to Merrell trail for a really nice night ride.
Also the parking fee is now up to $10 for a night, or $60 for the season. Yikes! This is a nice trail, but those prices, along with that much closed time, means rides here will be pretty precious and far between.

Trails where clean and fast it us a good ride.

Nice trails. There is an easy loop an intermediate loop and a small expert loop that you get to off the intermediate loop. The trails are closed mid june and July for Scouting. $10 per visit or $60 for the season.

Nice, rolling singletrack with plenty of short climbs. The downhills are decent and the scenery is great. Take a break halfway through and take a swim in one of the many lakes.
Many people rate Owasippe as intermediate to advanced, but my rookie wife had few problems. She did walk some hills.
The trails are closed for most of the summer as the area is a Boy Scout camp. My only other complaint is that some of the areas are a little too sandy. Those of us who grew up in West Michigan are used to that!

This is an awesome trail, with some beautiful scenery. It can be a technical trail, beginners might have their wheels slip out from underneath themselves a few times. The new re-route is a little rough only because it's new and needs to be ridden more. They have a Facebook page under, "Owasippe Trail Users." You'll be able to find much more info there plus you can actually talk to the people that ride it frequently. Note: this trail is closed off during the summer months because this property is shared with the Boy Scouts of America, and they use the area for their summer camp.

do not waste your time going here through the summer, drove 30 miles to bike here while on vacation, only to find out the scouts use the trails all summer and they are closed to the public

This is a very scenic heavily wooded single track that passes several lakes. The trail is mostly single track with lots of ups and downs. This is not a technical ride but there are several ups and downs that you have to pay attention to. I rode the red trail which is a loop about ten miles long. The trail is well maintained with several re-routes around fallen trees.
I traveled 7.7 miles north from US 31 on Russel road to get to the Owassippi scout camp. This was a nice ride - I will do it again.
