Mountain Biking Garmisch To Osterfelder Bergstation
#68 of 151 mountain bike trails in Germany
This is the toughest climbing I have ever seen. Starting elevation is 2,477 feet, and at the pinnacle of this trail you will be at 6,670 feet. The last three miles of the climb the grade remains above 14% and peaks at 29%. The views are spectacular and what goes up must come down! The ride up take about 3 hours some section may have to be walked depending on your ability and physical condition. The ride down less then 40 minutes, some section of fire roads it is easy to achieve speeds of over 50 miles an hour. Warning if youíre a heavy guy running small disc brake rotors up grade to larger rotors the long down hill sections will cause most disc brakes to over heat, and fail!

From Munich take Autobahn 95 south toward Garmisch at the end of the Autobahn stay on route B2/ B23. Follow B23 through Garmisch until you reach the outskirts heading toward Grainau and the Austrian boarder. Make a left at the last traffic light and follow the sign to the Ski lifts Alpspitz, and Kreuzeck for about 1.2 kilometer. Park at the Ski lift station, and back track about 50ft. to the trail head.
