Nicely developed, legal singletrack: maintained by Paulding SORBA. I would call it intermediate as far as technical aspects go. The trail is nothing like the Comet, it is dirt, rock, root, curves, climbs and trees. There are a couple sections that shoot off away from the SCT which have some nice climbs, if you miss the turn you'll know it because you'll now be hike-a-biking instead of mountainbiking. The trails are marked well, anywhere you see a blue arrow or blue marking on the south side of the SCT, marks the entrance or exit to one of these sections of trails. When ridden in succession, one way, you get about 8 - 9 miles of fun singletrack, then you have the option to ride the offroad trail back or if your legs are finished, you can cruise back on the Silver Comet. Check it out!
Needs a fair amount of work. rode a few of the segments that were marked and was beaten pretty good by all the overgrowth. it's overgrown, downed trees, broke bridges, and needs new markings on the ins and outs.
Thank |Overgrown, trees down, spider webs, dangerous bridges in disrepair. Coming down a hill noticed a bridge with missing boards so I dismounted and walked across. Stepped on an edge board which gave way and ended up upside down in the creekbed. Thank God I was stopped when it happened. Could be great course if it were maintained and more people rode it.
Thank |Overgrown, trees down, spider webs, dangerous bridges. Coming down a hill notice a few boards missing on a bridge so I dismounted to cross and stepped on an edge board and ended up upside down in the creek bed. Has potential if more people rode it but is in dire need of repair.
Thank |Kind of fun to explore, and some small unique sections, but overall very overgrown and bridges in disrepair, one at bottom of fast downhill missing 1/2 it's boarding and I broke one jumping the gap, another bridge looks more like a trials obstical. Kudzu very overgrown in sections with briars. Very surprised this is an IMBA trail, has a lot of potential, but not now.
Thank |Foggy Saturday morning, December 12, 2015. I accessed the trail by driving out to Hiram and parking at the Silver Comet Trail lot at mile marker 14.66. Take 278/Jimmy Lee Smith Pkwy, turn South on highway 92 ( Walmart is on the right ) Left on Seaboard St. At 4way stop SCT parking lot directly across from stop sign. The first entrance is just a short way East from the parking lot. The on and offs are mostly well marked with blue chevrons. I only traveled about half of the 9 mile length and it was enjoyable but not great. There is an actual sewer drainage that crosses the trail approx 1 mile in. I would skip that section if I ride there again. It smelled bad for a portion of the trail but otherwise the trail was fun. Intermediate level with lots of short climbs and roller hills. Having the paved Silver Comet trail abutting the bike trail is both a good and bad thing. I'm not sure about riding this trail in the spring and summer, I posted a pic of several dozens of ground laid spider webs which undoubtedly will hatch and I would imagine the trail get very webby. I actually rode into two full webs during my mid-December ride so imagine after all the sacs hatch !
Thank |More people need to ride!!!! This trail has great potential, however it is not well maintained. I rode about two miles of the trail before I turned around and rode the comet back to my car. in that two miles I pulled 5 spiders of off me and my bike from the multitude of webs that crossed the trail. I decided to call it quits after I saw a large snake lying across the trail that I bunny hopped over. Perhaps it would have been a more enjoyable ride if someone was riding in front of me, I think that this trail would be a lot funner in the winter time. The portion that I rode was fun with a lot of elevation change with some faster single track, like I said this trail has a lot of potential.
Thank |It's a trail trail that you have time ride a few times to really enjoy. The local bike club has been doing a great job in maintains the trails over the last few years. There is about 20 miles when riding it out and back with the option of riding the comet back for an easy spin. Unlike the comet there is plenty of elevation change on the side trail. There are plans in the works to exstend this one a few more miles to the west.
Thank |I have not been here in about 4 years but from what I remember the "trails" were okay at best. Im pretty sure they were just trails made over time from people hopping off silver comet and running around in the woods. They were fun for what they were.
Thank |This 'trail' is In dire need of maintenance. Gave it a try yesterday on a whim. Too many downed trees and overgrown areas. In its current state, you have to stop and hike a bike too many times for it to be remotely fun. I rode the first half heading west from Hiram. I gave up because it became too much of a hassle to stop on every 'section' to hike around some obstruction. Even if these were cleared, the sections are too short and you must continual hop on and off the paved Silver comet. This kind of ruins the whole trail riding - nature mentality. I suppose its better than nothing. These are the 2nd or 3rd least favorite trails I've ever ridden. Do not make a special trip to ride them.
Thank |I agree with what most others had to say but would like to add that this is a great started trail for young kids and older beginners. You can ride miles of this trail without being more than 30 feet from the pave Silver Comet Trail and an easy ride back to the parking lot. I go with my wife and kids. Sometimes they ride with me on the trail and some times they ride with her on the pavement. However, be aware that there are some tough climbs and technical sections. Always lead the ride and warn the rooks.
Thank |I drove all the way out to this one from Atlanta and I have to say It wasn't really worth the drive. There are much better trails that are closer. I was just really turned off by the fact that there were several construction areas and you are almost riding in peoples' back yards at a few points. It also cuts on and off the silver comet paved trail which is pretty annoying. Probably worth it if you're in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to do it again.
Thank |Surprisingly fun and accessible. The singletrack climbs and dives like a real mountain bike trail and there are plenty of bail out points along the Silver Comet trail. Good signage and easy to follow.
Thank |This trail has fun for everyone. ( Not for rooks ) Speedy downhills, tight twist, creek crosings, some pave riding and enough hill climbs to hate. I thought this trail was going to be a joke. I started at Hiram and went straight through and did the same on the return. I was worn out by the time I got to the car. Taking the pave trail on the return might be a good option.
Thank |I've been to the paved Silver Comet rail trail several times to run and ride a road bike but I recently found the side trails that Paulding SORBA maintains and I couldn't be happier! About 9 miles of single/double track that parallels the paved track. Runs between the Hiram parking lot on the east side and the Pumpkin Creek Trestle to the west. Pretty well marked at this point. Look for the blue and white chevrons marking trail entrances and exits. There's a surprisingly good amount of challenging trail here. It's easy to forget that the paved trail was cut straight through rolling hills until you hop on these side trails and pay the price. Don't miss the section called "rollercoaster". Serious fun. If you are feeling like you want an epic ride you can make a 50 mile loop of it by connecting to the Brushy Mountain fire roads and the fire roads in the Paulding Wildlife Management Area.* Review edited 10/7/2010

Thank |Rode the "Super Silver Comet Sidetrail" today, all that I could find (10 ish miles), the rode 10 more on the Comet back to the car. I forgot how tough those trails can be, one minute you're bombing downhill, the suddenly, strait up without time to downshift. I enjoyed it.
Thank |Fun trail, more than I expected. Had seen the blue markings before and decided to check them out one day while riding with nobbies. Glad I did. Now I have 9 miles of singletrack within 30 minutes from my house. Got a nice burn on my legs last time I was there. Couple of soft spots, but good design, will get better the more it's ridden. Go ride it if you live anywhere on the north side of Atlanta or anywhere else.
