This ride was brutal for me. I started late went by myself and did not bring my A game. This trail is advanced technical and strenuous aerobic. The views are awesome and if you are a trials rider you will be able to ride the whole trail. If you are a mere mortal like me you will play hike a bike. Assuming you parked at the Oyster Creek rest area head back up Hwy 88 towards Silver Lake and stop in at Kayís Resort to get a map of the trails. Then head back (200 yards) to Kit Carson ride up the road and stay left at the fork until you get to the end of the road and the trailhead. Climb one mile up to beautiful Granite Lake and play on the Granite. Continue around the Lake on your right hand side and head up to Hidden Lake. Continue on the single track up towards Allen Ranch and you should hit Squaw Ridge around mile 3.25 make a left on Squaw Ridge this is an ATV track so be careful if you donít see a cabin that looks like it is falling down you are on the wrong trail. Now you will pay on Squaw Ridge climb, climb, climb then climb some more and breath real hard around 9,000í but donít forget to enjoy the views. After 8 or 9 miles you will come to the single track of Horse Canyon on your left hand side. This is what you came for now fly through rock gardens and all too soon the 5.5 miles of downhill are over. Head down Hwy 88 and back to your car.
