Mountain Biking Sagebrush / Lake Morena
#375 of 1,004 mountain bike trails in California
parkk at the lake and head up the road. climb up the the top of the hill. the hill is like a valcano with trees and rocks in the middle. the is a trials riding area in the trees and you can do a jeep track loop around the entire hill top. there's a singletrack trailhead at the staging area at the top of the asphalt.
this is the location for several mtb races a year, the sagebrush safari and ca. st. down hill races. I met troy lee here during a race, nice guy. and was witness to johnny o'mara's thirty foot bunny hop over a rocky creek on the way to win the pro class cross country.
great place to train for just about anything. bring the dog, the gun, the chili, the bike and some dirt bikes. you should be set for a couple of weeks

go to san diego and take the 8 east past alpine and sunrise highway, the lake morena exit is on the right. you can see the lake from the highway. follow the signs to theh orv riding area.
steer clear of the coyotes bringing the illegals across the border - they have guns!!
This ride is great on a rainy day, when the OHV crowd is turned away and the dust is gone. Banked turns and deep ruts make for great fun.
