A mountain bike with fat tires rests beside a rocky dirt trail in a lush green forest. Tall trees with vibrant green leaves create a serene and shaded atmosphere, while a fallen log lies across the path. The scene captures the essence of outdoor adventure and mountain biking in nature. Mountain Biking Holzinger Lodge

#30 of 138 mountain bike trails in Minnesota
#2,745 in the world

This is some of the best single track in SE MN. Be careful not to ride during muddy conditions. This is a loop but has several places to cut across to other parts of the loop. Basicaly if you keep veering right you should get the whole loop. This is very narrow single track 8" in places with steep drop offs. Watch out for washed out brides and fallen trees.

I'm impressed with quality of this singletrack. Reminds me Memorial Park a bit, but steeper, faster and more fun in general. Grab your spare legs to climb on top and then fly down. Trails are well maintained with maps everywhere. Impossible to get lost here.
Black diamond trails will test your handling skills to the fullest. Love this trail

It was my first visit so it was a bit challenge to get familiar with the segments. I appreciated the map stand on several points which was helpful! The scenic view at the top hill was beautiful, it was a MUST to stop and take a photo. A segment - Cistern route - was insanely fun! It's like daredevil riding. Downhill roll riding was blessing feeling at the end!

With the amazing terrain, this could be so much better. I was hoping for better use of the downhill sections with flow trails. If you don't like flying down a bumpy, rocky trail then stay away from the quarry trail. I felt like all the work it took to gain the elevation was wasted by going straight down a hill I was just trying not to die on (ok, slight exaggeration here).

I didn't get to check out cistern, so it might be better than quarry trail. Other than the straight down hill at the end it was just ok. Narrow with straight down drops if you like that sort of thing.

I thought the salad bar trail was kind of cool because you can just get the hill climbing over with all at once. But beware- you will be pushing your bike up it and it is a never ending incredibly steep hill!!

The brown trail (wild woods?) I think was my favorite one.

One of the biggest issues is the lack of signage. I think they may have an issue with punk kids who like to party out there and destroy things, and maybe that's why they can't put up signs. There were several spots with fire pits and broken glass.

Rode this trail in Summer 2015. I LOVED this trail, especially once I figured out how to get to the top of the bluff; however, signage is confusing, non-existent, or taped on. I was actually lost for an hour. There was a sign stating that they were working on creating better signage. Looking forward to checking it out this summer to see if it's true. will be calling if not, as it keeps riders away.

Review for the whole trail system:
A really nice old school trail. Hard climbs up the hill. Nice flow up on the top. These trails are fast and fkowy and tons of fun!
Technical rocks and roots throughout on most climbs and recents. But the Quarry trails has tight technical rocky trail in spades. If you get in the flow, the really long rocky downhill on Quarry has to be the best downhill in this part of the Midwest. Fun in spades!

I rode mostly the lower sections that sweep back and forth near the base of the hill. One direction was a longer climb followed by a long rewarding descent. I don't like having to repeat sections for a 60-90 minute ride and that was necessary here. I also ventured up one portion of single track to the top - there was a steep drop-off much of the way on one side, though it was not too technical in these parts so I wasn't too worried (I wouldn't recommend this part for beginners). The trails could use marking and I found it funny there was a "pilot" trail marking program going on at the top where likely the least amount of riders would see the markings. Also, one section of singletrack did not seem ride-able - very steep.

Trails are fun. Great climb to get to the top of the bluff. Great singletrack up top and 3 different ways to get down so there is some variety. There is no good map of the trails so you learn as you go which is the only bad thing and dont ride in the mud it ruins the trails.

These trails are very familiar to me, as I live on top of the bluffs. somewhat technical, lots of logs to catch air off of.

I have ridden this trail a couple times and will be back again. It was hard to find the way up to the top the first time I rode here, but the ride down was worth it. The trails at the top were not marked at all. I think I hit most of them (some two and three times for the nice jumps). It would be nice to see a donation box somewhere for maps and signage. The quarry was a unexpected suprise when I saw it. I travel from Eau Claire to Rochester alot, and I will always have my bike to ride these trails
