Mountain Biking High Point State Park

  Add a review
#96 of 111 mountain bike trails in New Jersey
#11,090 in the world

For advanced riders. Rock, gravel, mud, loose dirt, pavement, very steep descents and ascents. High Point lends itself to exploration by the moderately fit as well as those looking for a strenuous outing. This ride combines sections of pavement and well-marked primitive woods roads; while not technically challenging, these roads demand a high level of physical exertion.

Getting there
Take Rt 23 seven miles north of the town of Sussex or fourmiles south of I-84 in Port Jervis, N.Y. From NYC drive west on I-80 about 40 miles to exit 34. Take Route 15 northwest about 16 miles. Turn north (right) onto Route 94 and drive about 8 miles. Turn northwest (left) onto Route 23 and drive about 13 miles to High Point State Park Office. Turn right and bear left at each junction to reach the cedar swamp. Take NJ 23. Proceed straight into the park following signs to the Cedar Swamp Natural Area. Lake Marcia will be passed on the right, and after 1 mile, a left turn will lead to the natural area. Travel down this road .25 mile and park on the right-hand side, just after a Dead End sign and just before a gate that closes off the road to vehicles.
