Mountain Biking Rockville Park
#77 of 1,004 mountain bike trails in California
This is not one trail but a network of several small trails. This is a VERY SMALL park..expect to do loops more than once. It has a varying degree of difficulty. This place is VERY ROCKY..hence Rockville Park. Some of the more rugged trails simply cant be ridden without dismounting due to huge rock gaps. Avoid the North slope side. What appears to be a trail is actually a dry creek! This cannot be ridden..you will end up carrying your bike a long ways and muttering at your stupidity. Overall this is a fun place, good for those who wanna sharpen their rock hoppin skills

Exit Green Valley Road from HWY 80. Left on Rockville Road. Park is on Left side about 400 feet up the road.
I first visited Rockville in 1972, before the mountain bike was invented. It was a hiking park then and almost completely unknown. All the 'bike' trails are really cow trails. They haven't changed since I was a boy. I call this "Disney Land for Mountain Bikers" and the ride where you duck under into brush tunnel the "Pirates of the Caribbean". Physically not too challenging but technically it is. A great place to hone your skills.
Thank |What can I say "Rockville Rocks". I am from the East Bay and have to drive for 30 minuets and pay a bridge toll. The time and effort is always worth it. I have a blast riding there and would recommend it to any level of rider. The park has trails that any level of Mtb rider could enjoy. I give it 5 inches of travel out of a 5 inch scale.
Thank |Rode here for the first time the other day and I had an absolute blast! I was on my 26" motobecane fantom trail ds and it did just fine, a few pedal strikes and a few hike-a-bike sessions but overall no problem. I can't say that I would take my kids here yet, they had a great time at China camp but Rockville is a bit more advanced with bigger rocks and actual single track.
Thank |I recommend Rockville for anyone who is thinking about replacing their derailleur soon haha, plenty of opportunities to tear off your old one!
This is where I learned to ride ~20 years ago. I've moved away and really miss it. There are all kinds of nooks and crannies with a lot of variety, and definitely plenty of rocks but if you're not comfortable picking your way through rocky sections there are smoother trails too. You need to do a little exploring to find the areas that you like most. The trails are all pretty short but you can still ride for a couple of hours and not repeat much.
Thank |Well it's called Rockville, so it should be no surprise that it's rocky! Good place to develop your skills, lots of challenging sections to keep you entertained.
Thank |Lots of trails, some technical rock areas but overall lots of fun! Park is small however even when the parking lot is full, you don't see many riders! Great views of Fairfield and Green Valley! Park usage fee of $3, not bad considering some are in the $8-$10 range just to park! Enjoy
Thank |I didn't get to see all of what we had planned due to a friends injury, our ride was cut short. What I rode was nice single track and I plan on a return trip soon.
Thank |The trail is well maintained and in good condition. The trail is a good beginner/intermediate trail with only a few technical sections, virtually everything is rideable or can be walked if you are a rookie. The trail has lots of ups and downs so expect to do some climbing.
Like others have said, Rockville is a small park, you can't get lost easily, but you can get turned around. Find a trail map and put together different combinations of the short trails or ride in the opposite direction for variety.
Thank |I ridden Rockville for over 10 years now and keep going back. There's plenty of challenging riding for every lever of rider. It is a small park but that makes it difficult to get lost, which is a plus. There is a fee to ride but if you go often amount you can get a 6 month pass.
Thank |This place has some rocks... There are intermediate to advanced sections. The rock garden is really nice
Thank |Good place to ride single track. Small park but u can put together a 10 or 12 mile without backtracking to much. After going through turnstile go right or left right away. Avoid the road. I love riding there.
Thank |One of my most fun rides
Thank |Wow! Ive walked the trails here but on a bike is tough for a newbie. Wish I read the posts on the level and started somewhere easier... But I dont regret being here right now! The view is absolutely beautiful! Watch out for the rocks on the hills, easy to fall when just learning.
Thank |It's in my backyard, but I would definately recommend Rockville for every level of Mountain Biker. I just rode it a week ago with my brother-in-law and although at our level we probably shouldn't have tried the Rock Garden trail - we did and survived! Everything's here for beginner to advanced.
Thank |Rockville is the best park/area, in the East Bay, that you can ride to develop, hone, and recall bike handling skills. No big climbs, and plenty of non-technical, and yet, ride the technical stuff, it'll make you much better, and more confident bike handler! This is not the place to get in shape for racing, it's the place to build skills, have fun, and hang with friends.
Thank |I and my brother rede rockville today. We are both beginners to the sport. so I was little worried at first. But this spot has something for every level of riders. There is going to be a lot of climbing, but the descents are fun. I did fall once at the rock garden. But that was due to me getting carried away with fun and be less cautious.

Thank |I love Rockville. It ias everything, from flowy single track, fire road climb to a long stretch of rock garden. I can pretty say I can clear all the long climbs there. But certain sections of the rock garden are still too damn hard. They are good for practicing your skill. Rockville rocks....
Thank |LOL....I think this is why I found this trail to be so technical and difficult because we both had never been there and after hitting the summit we quickly went from established trail to lost and wound up in the trees and bushes fighting our way back up the mountain. It was very difficult. Stay on the marked trails here! I'll go back and see how I do the 2nd time before giving up on this place....
Thank |Rode this spot today for the first. I'm still realitively new to the sport and found this spot to be pretty tough in spots due to the rocks and downhill speeds. For my taste it's a bit too technical and way too much ruts and rocks. The downhills were steep and the rocks everywhere, but there was fun to be had out there. For me it's not my fav spot, but it's worth checking out. I'd say it's not for beginners though....pretty easy to take big spills.
Thank |Lots of rock gardens and technical challenges that can go from easy to 'make sure your life insurance is up to date'. That being said there is plenty of fire road with easy climbs to enjoy if you don't like tech. There is a $3 use fee and they do check. Bring your dollar bills!
