Mountain Biking Selma Erwin Nature Trail

*****   Add a review
#36 of 403 mountain bike trails in Georgia

This trail is a blast!!! It's fairly technical, and i promise you won't leave unsatisfied. There are abundant climbs and decents. Get you a good set of grippy tires, the trail tends to get muddy after rain, and has parts that are covered with roots. There are a few spots where you ride the side of a small ravine, and a few stream crossings. Plenty of hard turns and technical spots. Two or three big decents (fast as s#@!) It's a great time. Be careful, and be sure to stop by and see the guys at Oconee Outfiters. They're super helpful, and will be glad to make sure you get to the trail.
UPDATE: A new trail head has been built at the intersection of Vinson Hwy and Laying Farm Road. It has a kiosk (with map, history and flora information) and a 2 stall changing room. The new 0.75 out and back connector trail gets you to the original trail which has now grown to just over 5 miles. With the connector trail, you will be riding about 7.5 miles to finish a lap at Selma and will be experiencing almost 1,000' of climb. It is still a BLAST!

Getting there
Alright, go past Ga college front campus, and continue through downtown Milledgeville. Go through three red lights, and at the third take a right, it'll be HW 112. (Georgia Military College will be on your right) Go down this road until you run into a stop sign. Take a left and drive approximately 4-5 miles. You'll see the prison up on your left after you cross a bridge. Begin to slow down, the trail entrance is on your right, not marked. Two tire tracks are visible. Follow these back (not far at all) and the trailhead will be right in front of you. The local bike shop keeps the trail up. Ride the trail counter clockwise. Have a blast!!!
