A narrow dirt path winds through a lush green forest, flanked by dense vegetation on both sides. Sunlight filters through the trees, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere. The path, partially covered in sand, suggests frequent use, leading deeper into the natural surroundings. Monterey Trails mountain bike trail.

Mountain Biking Monterey Trails

#154 of 202 mountain bike trails in Tennessee
#10,140 in the world

The trail has some good speed which is good for killing yourself on the many curves. There is only one 150 yard hill that hurts. I'm a "weekend worrior", and have the option of walking this hill, or puking a lung(usually I go for the plueral fluid). I't is a 3.5 mile trail, which I do in 19-20 min., some do better, some do worse. This is a real good trail for sprint training, and getting your wife on the trail. FYI: This is a trail in the woods, no restrooms. Bring a change of clothes, avoid the big mud-holes(trust me), and have a blast.

Getting there
"Take exit 301 off I-40 and go South(away from town), on 70. Go ~2-3 miles and your road will double back over I-40(no exits). Take the first road on the left(you'll see some clear cutting that was done, but trust me, this is not the trail). Go about 1 mile, and you'll see a "sand" two-track off to the right. If your truck didn't run out of gas getting this far, then your truck isn't big enough to take this road. Go 30 feet and turn right on a two-track at a "Gas Pipe connection/relay thing" Drive/ride back to the pipeline(in sight) and go right 40 yards until you see the Sand two-track on the right. Stop!! Look into the woods off your left shoulder, enjoy.
