This could be a great set of trails if the locals would develop it a bit more. The signage is terrible/nonexistent. Nothing is marked once you leave the map and many of the trails cross or dead end into others and it's very difficult to know where you are. I'll definitely come back again but you definitely need a GPS to manage them.
Thank |Fantastic trails marred by worst trail markers and signage I've seen... which was mostly non existent...
Thank |Rode this trail for the first time. I parked in a University apartment complex crossed by the bike route which enters the trail from the East on Old Taylor Road. Parking is also available on Chucky Mullins Drive next to the appliance factory construction site where the South Campus rail trail crosses Chucky Mullins.
Thank |The trails form loops on either side of a high tension line easement - a bike path follows the easement, and a singletrack trail continues along the easement under the wires, deeply rutted by rains. I explored the trails north of the high tension lines and south of Highway 278. Trails are twisty, loopy and poorly marked, and often cross one another. It was easy for me to get turned around, and I found myself going around the same section of trail multiple times. The trails were well packed and dry despite some rain last night. They need more traffic - lots of small broken branches little the trails and like to roll out from under wheels in turns. Most of the trail is packed dirt, but parts are sandy with some gravel. The terrain is quite hilly, so there are some twisty climbs and a few flowy gradual descents, but the trails are a good workout. This being my first time here I was taking it easy - I don't get down to Oxford often, but will try to ride again. Riding them several times just to get to know the area would make it more fun - a bit of a tough slog for an older guy from the flatlands like me, but still a lot of fun.
Great system, but the trails are poorly marked.
Thank |ask this in the questions section
Thank |Fun trails for in town riding. Tight turns. Not much in the way of tech. My ride was brief and it was after the leaves had fallen, so I did lose the trail a couple of times. There seems to be a ton of trail out there though.
Thank |I go biking with my friends just about every weekend on these trails. I have ridden almost every trail and never get tired of it. Great trails. Highly recommended
Thank |Most people call it Whirlpool.....incredible trails....the best in the area by far!!
Thank |There is a ton of trails here. All seem to have pretty good flow but you do have to be careful of these little slick spots they have. It will seem pretty dry and then there will be a little 2-3 wet section usually are a nice root and it will bite you if you're not looking for it. The only major problem I had will the trail is it is very poorly marked and did not see a single trail map anywhere. But it was a lot of fun and I will be back.
Thank |Great trail system! Plenty of trails and they are all very well maintained. Not a whole lot of super technical terrain, but you can find some if you look for it.
Thank |Fun trail... Very close turns and lots bush w vegetation, tick repallant is a must!
Thank |traveling on hwy 6, take Colosseum Drive down to the Whirlpool Plant and park. You can get on the railbed from there. The Trails branch off the railbed and are kinda hard to spot so keep your eyes peeled.
Thank |does anybody know how to get there?
Thank |These trails are great, well maintained, technical and fun. The fact that they are all interconnecting trails branching off the railbed means endless possibilities for rides. Also saw some jumps, some skinnies, and some nice bridges.
Thank |This is a great trail. The students at Ole Miss as well as the locals are lucky to have this so close by. I will ride it again.
Thank |
