Mountain Biking Granite Bay Trail
#93 of 1,004 mountain bike trails in California
The trail is a gradual uphill and downhill. It is mostly singletrack over dry, sandy hills and ridges. Since this is a new trail, it looks like it will be a blast after a little bit of moisture compacts the trail a bit. A word of caution: this is a multi-use trail. Please remember the IMBA Rules of the Trail.

Head east from I-80 in Roseville on Douglas Blvd. Continue to main gate to Folsom Lake State Park and park in te first lot. There is a day use fee.
Fun relatively easy multi use trails. After a rain they dry up quickly and are perfect. They are adding new trails all of the time. Not well maintained trails and all are two way trails shared with horses and hike/runners. The water tower hill is a fun climb and several options for getting down. If you know where to look you can fun some fun rock gardens to play in. This is as others have said a great upper beginner to upper intermediate trail system. Starting at the Beals Point entry off of Auburn Folsom Road the bike trail go north along AF Road to above Cavitt JR High and then follows along the lake to the fun trails after the water tank hill climb.
Thank |These trails run from smooth and flowing to 15% grade in spots. Not too technical at all. Great beginner/intermediate trails. They are mixed with horse trails in spots. Some downhill trails are beginning to wash or rut, but overall these are great trails for a couple hour ride if you use them all. Park in the Granite Bay Beach lot and you will see trail access at either end of the large parking lot. Dotons Point is another great place to park. Bring a swimming suit and cool off in the lake afterwards.
Thank |Awesome place for a beginner and intermediate riders.
Thank |Great trail for beginners. Awesome view of the lake. Trails surround by mostly trees.
Thank |In the Sacramento area we are blessed to have such a great place to bike and it be so close.
Thank |The trails are in need of repair due to run off.
Fun trail system that can be accessed from the end of the American River Bike Trail at Beal Point. The main loop is 5 miles plus five miles to and from Beal Point for a nice ten-miler. To add mileage, just keep doing laps. Trail is good in both directions but seems to flow a little better clockwise. Good beginner/intermediate area.
Thank |LOVE THE TRAIL LOTS TO EXPLORE!
Thank |Nice SMOOTH wide trails, mostly. Mostly flat, except for the midway north, nearer the lake. Found a nice curvy trail around that hill that was great; seemed to go on a while.
Thank |Good for beginners, if you stay off the hill.
Fun for my first time here. Ill be back to explore it all.
Thank |Great trail for rolling single track no technical areas if you don't take Mt. Top trail. Took my wife, very new rider, shes loved it. Not a training or challenging trail (at least the portion we did) still fun and scenic lake views. We only did section from last parking area out to point and back (exactly 5 miles). Coming back from point, take left trail (of three trails) to avoid switchback climb to scenic rest area. **Please clear trail for faster riders, there are quite a few using trail.
Thank |Excellent trails. $12 entry fee at gate. Dont forget money! Nice trails beginner to intermediate. No maps at gate but ask locals..very friendly.
Thank |After being off a mnt bike for almost 15 years it was a great trail to break in my new bike. There is some more technical, rocky down hill if you look for it, more to the north. If you are looking for a Sunday afternoon ride not to far away, it's pretty fun.
I was not excited to pay $12 for day use, however I am sure there is a way to park just outside the area and go for a ride.
Thank |Very fun trail for beginners to intermediates, or anyone looking for a relatively quick ride. Different trails allow you to mix it up. Fun flowing downhill with some moderate climbs thrown in. Try it...you'll like it.
Thank |This trail was pretty cool, a great place to take a friend that does not know how to do the technical stuff. In april it was a little more muddy but nothing we couldn't handle. I enjoyed this track a lot.
Thank |This is a fun mostly flat trail that can be done in 1-1.5 hours depending on pace/skill-level.
Options:
Thank |1. To skip the water-tower climbs, just stay on the fire road to go around it.
2. From the Beeks Bight parking lot, continue on to Doton's point to add another 1.5 mile to this out and back (moderately technical)
Good beginer tail, I took my wife and a few friends here and had a blast. Climbs were gradual and the downhills seemed to be fast and go on fo a while. Great trail to work on speed and get use to being off the pavemant.
Thank |TBF racing has several races throughout the year in this park. The trail has great drainage, plenty of DG, great climbs to gap out the race pack. Some semi-tech rocks/gardens...switchbacks upon switchbacks. An awesome ride, when done casually or training..you'll appreciate the views and terrain. In race mode..it's a full out challenge with limited reprieves. Umpteen trail permutations to play with.
Thank |Pretty good trail, the area further north is much more fun. While the trail might have been built for beginners, runoff has eroded the trail a bit. I would call it closer to intermediate in some spots. There's also a few granite boulders here and there to pop off of and 1 or 2 big ones that you can wallride.
Thank |The trails are very windy and smooth. Fun place to work on your cornering skills. This is where I brought the girlfriend to get her into mountain biking. She called this place "Hill-Biking"
Thank |Fairly boring trail, definately a good place to bring beginners.
