The Garmin Edge GPS series has been our favorite choice for mountain biking for a while but we’ve been frustrated with the ability to import and export data using Garmin’s Training Center application. If you’ve ever tried to convert a single ride to another data format (like GPX for example) you know it’s a huge pain in the ass. Garmin has chosen to compound the pain by saving your entire training log in a single file making it virtually impossible to share via the web without resorting to Garmin’s own MotionBased software.
Anyway, I had personally had enough so I decided to create my own web-based Edge data conversion utility. If you have a singletracks account you can now use the “Edge Splitter” for free to store and convert your Garmin Training Center data online. Just zip up your training center file (this cuts down on upload times by more than 16X!) and click the upload button. After your file has been processed you’ll see a list of all your rides with time and distance data plus links to download individual .tcx and GPX files. Sweet!
Be sure to read the instructions on the Edge Splitter upload page if you have any questions. We’re also working on adding more features like mapping, elevation profiles, and detailed training data for our premium members – stay tuned!

What I don't understand is why there are NO comparison options with either Training Center or MB. How is one suppose to see improvements if there is no direct comparison between two rides. How could a software company leave that option out. How about you develope something like that as well. :)
