Interbike 2014: The Latest from Rocky Mountain and Jamis

While we’ve been reporting on all the latest bike releases and developments from Rocky Mountain right here on the Singletracks blog, I still made a point to swing by the Rocky booth at the beginning of the show and check out their new bikes first-hand.

While we have indeed reported on it in the past, the Ride 9 chip quickly changes the geometry of any bike in their lineup from climbing to neutral to descending orientation.

Easily Rocky Mountain’s biggest news is the brand-new Thunderbolt. The Thunderbolt lays claim to being one of the first bikes designed specifically with Shimano Di2 XTR compatibility, but there are other nifty upgrades to this version of the Thunderbolt as well:

The new Blizzard fat bike from Rocky is a sight to behold, and it almost makes me stoked to get out on the snow this winter! Featuring the new RockShox Bluto suspension fork, this aluminum-framed rig is ready for a variety of adventures, even during the summer. The Interbike display model here features a partial frame bag, but you can undoubtedly fully kit the Blizzard out with a complete bikepacking setup if you’re so inclined. However, the intended use is definitely just fun: ripping snow and dirt alike!

MSRP: $2,699

Jamis

Jamis was in attendance with their new Komodo 27.5, an all-mountain hardtail reminiscent of their incredibly popular steel Dragon 650b. However, unlike the Dragon, the Komodo sports an aluminum frame, dropper post, killer Fox suspension, and a reliable Shimano drivetrain:

Jamis also had a 29er version of the popular steel Dragon on display, featuring a dropper post and sliding drop outs–just in case you want to run singlespeed.

With a KS Lev dropper post, 120mm Fox 32 Evolution fork, and a Shimano SLX drivetrain, the Dragon 29 Pro retails for $2,799.

While the 2015 Dakar AMT is very similar to last year’s model, the new enduro blue paint job just screams for attention!

The Pro model, pictured here, retails for $4,799 and features a triple-butted 7005 aluminum frame kitted out with a RockShox Pike fork and a RockShox Monarch Plus RC3 rear shock.

A SRAM X01 drivetrain handles transmission duties, with American Classic wheels, a KS Lev dropper post, and SRAM Guide brakes rounding out the parts package.
