The ever-expanding Griffin Bike Park located in Terre Haute, Indiana is officially cutting the ribbon on a new adaptive mountain biking trail called Freedom Trail on October 17 at 11am. The 4-mile trail is designed for adaptive riders, who “typically cannot ride a standard mountain bike and require adapted equipment and trails to suit their physical, intellectual, neurological and sensory abilities.”
The Griffin Bike Park project was founded in celebration of the core values of Freedom, Family, Friendship and Community and to the memories of the service men and women who have served, and who gave their lives to protect these values for us all.
The park is named in honor of Sgt. Dale R. Griffin, who grew up in Terre Haute and was an active member of the community. Dale became a Sergeant in the US Army and gave his life on October 27, 2009, while serving in Operation Enduring Freedom, in Afghanistan.
The ribbon cutting event is set to take place outdoors and Indiana’s Lt. Governor is scheduled to attend. The Shepherds of Griffin Bike Park are asking guests to RSVP so they can ensure proper social distancing at the event. More info at griffinbikepark.com.
