Riders who want to update their bike by making the head tube angle slacker or steeper by 1° have a new USA-made option in the GeoShift headset from Wolf Tooth Components. The angled headset works with frames that use external headset cups, so if your bike’s bearings are integrated (IS), sitting directly against the frame, you’ll need to take a loot at the Slack-R headset from 9point8 instead.
The GeoShift is sold as a set, designed for frames with ZS44/EC44, ZS44/EC49, and ZS44/ZS56 headset cups. Buyers will also need to choose between the 90-115mm or 115-140mm head tube length options.
Like any other angle adjusting headset, the cups need to be symmetrically aligned so that the bearings can evenly hold the fork’s steerer tube in a position 1° slacker or steeper than the original. You can pick one up today from the Wolf Tooth site for $104.95 or €110.
