With its predecessor labeled solidly as an XC offering, the new Litespeed Pinhoti III looks to add some ability to crossing through the country. The titanium hardtail frame will be available in extra-small with 27.5″ wheels, and the small through XL sizes can be purchased with either 27.5″ or 29-inch diameter wheels. The smallest frame is designed around a 120mm fork, while the other four sizes use 130mm of travel under the bars.
Seat tubes on the updated frames lean steeper than on the Pinhoti II, ranging from 74.5° on the XS and ending at 73.5° on the XL bikes. The size-dependent 67° to 67.5° head tube — slacker by a degree or two than previous models — should provide snappy steering for the endurance trail riders and bikepackers that the designer had in mind. Litespeed measures reach in inches, and the five bikes span between 15.75″ and 19.09″, which is between 400 and 485mm to the rest of the world. The chain stays are a short 16.9″ or 429mm across the board, and seat tubes sit between 14″ and 20″, or 356 to 508cm.
These titanium frames, made in Chattanooga, Tennessee, will have a press-fit bottom bracket, though threaded options are available as an upgrade. Only the dropper cable is routed internally, keeping the rest of the maintenance quick and simple.
A Pinhoti III frame built up with Shimano SLX will retail for $4,745, and the XTR build will go for $7,445. Stand-alone frames are also available for $2,349 if folks want to build their own bike.
