Chestnut Mountain Resort in Illinois building bike park

Construction is under way for the Farside Bike Park at Chestnut Mountain Resort in Illinois this summer. First up: two downhill runs and a mountain bike skills area, with more trail development to follow over the next couple of seasons.

New jump line at Erwin Park

Erwin Park in Texas just added a mountain bike skills area with multiple progressive jump lines. The Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association (DORBA) organized over 2,000 volunteer hours to help move and shape 7,000 tons of dirt.

Santos opens new flow trail

According to social media reports there is a new flow trail at Santos in Florida that parallels the Indigo Flow trail near the Vortex freeride area. Since the trail roughly mirrors Indigo Flow it should make for fun and informal slalom racing.

Trail building underway in Florida, but not yet RTR

It can be super tempting to ride new trails before they’re done, especially when they look this good. SWAMP and the professional trail builders working on the Temple Terrace trails in Florida ask that riders stay off the new dirt until all the work is finished. Wait for the official grand opening announcement before riding!

Guernsey gains new MTB trail

Volunteers with the Guernsey Mountain Bike Association recently completed a trail ringing the Les Vardes Quarry on the island located in the English Channel.

More trails being added to Knoxville Urban Wilderness system

Thanks to donations from the Drop Inn, two new trails will be opening to the public in Knoxville this summer. The new trails are said to be progressive and designed to remain open year round.

Eagle Scout project brings new MTB trail to Alabama

Last weekend marked the official opening of the Cherokee Rock Village trails in Alabama, thanks to the efforts organized by local Scout Levi Crabtree. The new trail is about a mile long and is located near Centre, AL in the northeast corner of the state.

New Southside connector trails underway

MTB Atlanta is adding new connector trails and improving the trails at Southside Park this summer. At least one of the new trails — Hickory Bail Out — is open with new alt lines on the advanced loop under construction. Access to the intermediate and advanced loops has also been improved with a new set of pipes to divert creek flow off the trail.

New trail in Aspen mapped out

According to the Pitkin County Open Space and Trails group, “Construction of a new trail to parallel Airline Trail at Sky Mountain Park is planned later this summer, but work began in May to establish the route. Creation of the new trail, envisioned in the 2020 management plan update for the Park, will allow for the separation of uphill and downhill bike traffic.”

New pump track taking shape at Shore Acres Bike Park

The Michigan’s Edge Mountain Biking Association (MEMBA) posted an update on work at the Shore Acres Bike Park, which is being partially funded by a Shimano Dig In grant. Grading is under way for the pump track with plans to fill in vegetation to prevent future erosion.
