Multi-use trails open at Doe Mountain, Tennessee
The Doe Mountain Recreation Area in Mountain City, Tennessee is enhancing recreation with new multi-use trails and a management plan that will utilize different directions for bikes and hikers. The park is celebrating the opening near the end of March, according to the Tomahawk.
Grants secured for Ohio MTB trails
Alum Creek State Park, located just north of Columbus, Ohio, has secured $150,000 of grants through two different programs, according to the Delaware Gazette. The grants will be used to build an additional 4.5 miles of trail that will connect two existing trails at the park, getting trail users off of a road. Once the new trail is complete, it will stretch 22 miles, and meet the criteria for an IMBA Epic Trail.
Bi-partisan support for AORA bill
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wy) reintroduced the America’s Outdoor Recreation Act (AORA) into Congress. The bill is said to support outdoor recreation economies, expand recreation opportunities on public lands, and assist land managers in protecting public spaces and collecting visitor data that would help inform land managers. Help fundraise a trail project in Central California
The Folsom Auburn Trail Riders Action Coalition (FATRAC) is fundraising to hire trail professionals to design and build the Chaparral Ridge Trail in Western El Dorado County, California. The trail would give more experienced riders an option in the network and bolster connectivity and ride options in this part of El Dorado County. Support the project here.
