Fast-Looking DH Track in Poland for this Weekend’s World Cup Race

The World Cup is in Poland for the first time. Here's a preview of the downhill course.

The UCI World Cup will be in Poland for the first time this weekend, with DHI (downhill) and EDR (enduro) competitions beginning today. In the course preview video above, the downhill track looks to be fast, and it features big jumps along with a few steep and natural tech sections. The race takes place in the Beskid mountains at a bike park known simply as “Enduro Trails.”

The second round UCI Enduro races will take place all day today, followed by E-Enduro racing on Saturday. DH qualifications and semi-finals are also on Saturday with the finals taking place on Sunday. The full schedule is here. There’s rain in the forecast for all three days with the greatest chance of rain today.

Once again Aaron Gwin will be providing race commentary for the official UCI race stream. Singletracks spoke with Gwin by phone shortly after he arrived in Poland ahead of this weekend’s competition. Asked if he gets nervous before the broadcast, he told us, “The commentary stuff is real chill for me, especially compared to the racing [which is] definitely a lot more nerve-wracking. The commentary is fun. I wouldn’t say it’s easy; you’ve got to put thought and research and a little bit of effort into it.”

US viewers can tune in on the Max streaming service at 5:25am EDT on Sunday, May 19.
