Can Red Bull Hardline be TOO hard? Yes.

A massive canyon gap has reportedly been removed from the Red Bull Hardline course after initial tests—and crashes—over the weekend.

Over the weekend, videos circulated on social media showing riders testing a brand-new canyon gap at Red Bull Hardline in Wales. The massive canyon gap reportedly utilizes a motocross takeoff to launch riders across a massive span next to a thundering waterfall. While some riders cleaned the gap during practice, others—like Jim Monro, shown above—suffered massive crashes. Monro reportedly walked away from the crash but still suffered a serious concussion.

While the use of the motocross lip was supposed to allow the height and distance of the gap to be easily modified depending on conditions, the latest social media reports indicate that the gap won’t be used in the actual competition this weekend.

When Matt Jones calls this the scariest jump of his life, you know that it must be truly terrifying. Check out Jones’s video for an up-close-and-personal look at this mammoth gap deemed too hard to be used in Hardline. (The canyon gap doesn’t appear until the last third of the video.)

Tune in on June 1st and 2nd for the live broadcast from Hardline.
