For me, running on the road and on trails is a great way to stay in shape for mountain biking but sometimes running can be a little boring. Apparently the folks at The Bicycle Forest agree and so they invented the Treadmill Bike.
As you can see from the video below, the rider (er, runner) propels this beast down the trail by running on the attached treadmill belt. The video also shows the Treadmill Bike going off road, jumping, and even trials riding across picnic tables. You can actually order a Treadmill Bike online for $2,500, though the laughter in the background of the video makes me think the inventors don’t expect too many serious inquiries.
Clearly the concept needs some work but it’s always cool to see new interpretations of the classic bike design. Heck, tinkering with bikes is how this whole MTB thing got started so you never know!
