We’ve been working on a ton of new stuff for this season and figured we’d take a breather and get everyone up to speed.
Improved MTB video pages
Singletracks members have done a great job linking online videos to trail and gear pages (2,000+) but unless you know where to look, you may have missed some of the best vids. We just revamped the video tab to help you explore: videos with the most views, highest rated videos, and the newest videos. You can also link ANY mountain bike video (not just trail or gear vids) using the ber-simple form on the right side of the video tab page.
Coming soon: new actions on the video pages like tagging and sharing that will make it even easier to navigate and watch. Also look for the ability to upload mountain bike videos directly via singletracks later this summer.
Beginner MTB resources
Singletracks has a ton of great beginner content but it can sometimes be difficult to find, especially for those who are new to the website. From forum threads to blog posts, how-to videos to buyers guides, we’re linking all the best newbie stuff via the new Beginners tab. We’ve included a few placeholders for content that’s coming soon so look for that later this season.
Facebook integration
For those who are on Facebook, we’ve added the ability to “like” any trail or mountain bike. Just click the Facebook Like button in the trail or gear dashboard and a short note will be added to your profile page. You can also see what your singletracks friends are liking by checking out the FB Social Plugin widget on the homepage (bottom of the right column). And don’t forget you can share almost any item from singletracks using the “ShareThis” link as well.
Forum upgrade
By now most of the dust has settled and we’re really loving the new forum software. Better interface, faster page loads, and TONS of new features. Look for further forum integration into trail and gear pages this spring and summer.
We also wanted to fill everyone in on a few milestones we reached in the last month or so:
- 900+ mountain bike trail maps & GPS data
- 2,000+ mountain bike videos
- 4,000+ Facebook fans
- 3,200+ mountain bike trails
We’re heading to Augusta for the IMBA World Summit tomorrow so look for event coverage later this week. And don’t forget to get your review or how-to mountain bike video filmed soon – the video contest ends June 1, 2010 and someone will win an iPod Touch!
