Mid-size DSLR from Canon, and the step below their professional level bodies. For capturing lots of frames of sporting events, while not spending a $2k-$3k alone for a body, this is rig for you. It still has the 1.6x crop factor, but with the latest firmware, fires a blistering 8 frames a second at 18 megapixels. This is probably overkill for most people, but if you want to try and seriously capture some sporting events where things can change in an instant, this is an excellent choice.
And this body has the ability to capture video in H.264 format. A great way to capture high quality video of your buddies railing that berm, flying off that jump, or pulling that shoe flinging end-o.
