GIG is a true gem of a shop with a twist - a spacious 4-tap bar backed with a giant flatscreen. It's laden with all forms of cycling magazines, the TV is always playing a race or competition, and Fat Tire Ale is always in the rotation. It's the perfect place to hang out pre or post ride and talk bikes. The shop sells a full range of bike styles with a special focus on mountain and gravity products.
Owner/wrench John is a master mechanic (including suspension), an MTB enthusiast, and an all around friendly guy.
In lieu of a vast floor selection GIG has a smartly curated collection of bikes and essentials. When you need something specific, they will work with you to get a special order delivered asap. They've wisely steered clear of the big name/big$ brands, opting instead to sell the full gamut of sensible, no frills bikes from KHS. But they also represent a handful of elite brands (Transition, Pivot, Foes) should you want your dream bike. In addition, they run a consignment program - there are always 3-5 used bikes of varying styles that have been tuned up and priced to sell.
In a very short time, GIG has built a shop that cultivates not only sales and service but community and culture - something missing from many shops these days.
While the shop is new, their customer service & education is not. Combined years of experience on the technical side of "wrenching" is up at 31 years. With their partnership of a local sports nutrition distributor, these guys/gals are cranking out repairs, selling some sweet shirts & hosting bicycle safety clinics & rides. All while working getting Harrisburg, NC's first bike shop up & running..we were informed on a little secret in their multi-phase business plan & boy, WE can't wait...look 'em up & like via Facebook or follow on Twitter. They are great guys/gals, be sure to mention the folks at Charlotte B.O.M.B. mentioned, as they work highly by word of mouth & offer many top sells via friends, family, military & police discounts.
