I drove 235 miles from Virginia to buy a bike from Merritt and ReCycles. I called two Rocky Mountain distributors in Va., and two in N.C. just to ask some questions about the new Slayer that was going to launch in a few weeks. Not only was Merritt the only person that could answer my questions, but he actually had a Slayer demo on loan from Rocky. He was also the only one who followed up with me via a phone call (and he remembered the date that I mentioned was my birthday). Ultimately after reading reviews, I decided that a Slayer was more bike than I needed and opted for the Thunderbolt that was the same price but more of a xc bike. I drove to Greensboro and Merritt let me ride both bikes for as long as I wanted (over three hours in my case), and then he talked some sense into me and convinced me that the Slayer was the better choice for me.Two months later and there is no doubt that he was correct. He also let me conceal the true cost from my wife (she thinks that all bikes should cost under $1,000 LoL), by allowing me to pay with a combo of a credit card, cash. and two different checks. He also remembered me when Rocky came out with an updated chainstay guard and mailed me one. Despite the mileage, I know that I will be visiting ReCycles again for my future biking needs.

I was hesitant walking into ReCycles near the UNCG college campus. I was expecting a bunch of alternative gear heads who didn't really listen to what I need and only talked to other experienced bikers. Boy was I wrong. The guys were really nice and helped me find a perfect bike for my needs. (Kona Splice 18"). Merritt and Christian were so helpful, even knocking off the price some and getting me ready to ride. I will return again and again. A !

Shopped around every shop in the area while looking for my new bike. No one is as down to earth and honest as these guys. Everyone that works in the shop (I've made several visits) is a rider with valuable and varying opinions and they're not sales-y or pushy in the slightest. They're also definitely more gravity- and AM-focused than the other shops in the area.

For such a small shop, they stock a good selection of mountain and rec/commuter bikes (Yeti, Lynskey, Kona, Origin 8) and seem to be well stocked on spare parts and necessities. Merritt will also cut deals better than any online or chain store I've seen (great place to get Hope or I-9 gear).

Don't see what you're looking for on the walls or in the display cases? They'll sell you the parts right off their own bikes. They're great guys and located right on UNCG's campus. Stop by and see them ASAP.
