There is some potential here, but needs work. Signs of homeless camps abound,(IN OTHER WORDS DON"T GO IT ALONE, THE HOMELESS IN ATHENS ARE NOT FRIENDLY, THEY WILL RAPE AND ROB YOU) lots of garbage. Some decent topography for the area, and some mad made elements mixed in, but these are all in a poor state of repair. The "bowl" is across the street under the powerlines, and is in much need of work. Its a short ravine of about 20 yards long and 12 feet deep that has a few jumps and obstacles, but is very unused, the pics shown on this site are at least two years outdated, and everything looks like its been rotting into the ground for that long. No trespassing signs are by the bowl area, but I encourage people top go and work that area anyways. Again, lots of potential, but needs a little work and is potentially a bit unsafe due to the homeless camps.

The trail is a little difficult to find your way around at first when you enter the woods, but after turning right at the first intersection you are basically good to go. And it is good--pretty nice, technical intermediate, very pleasant, especially for a quick after work ride. (The bowl is across the paved road, by the way, and I rode up it I didn't know it was there...what a great surprise.)

Some good singletrack riding, never found the bowl area....guessing it was on the other side of the powerlines?

I was actually surprised with how good of condition this trail is in. It's the first time I've ridden it in about 2 years, but it is in way better condition than the last time I saw it. Some of the trail has new spray paint to show the way, undergrowth has been cleared back in spots, and parts of the freeride bowl have been reworked. This is such a neat little trail to have right in Athens, and it's great for practicing some of those technical skills thanks to the short, steep climbs, drops, and plentiful rocks and roots. Now all that's need is more people to ride here and get the pine straw and fall leaves beaten in.

Not terribly overgrown, but still surprisingly easy to get lost on these windy trails. A lot of trash along the trail. Tree roots and steep little drop offs keep you on your toes the whole time.

The trail was really overgrown with kudzu and weeds but the bowl was really fun.

Rode this trail today. Appears no one has ridden it in some time. A lot of trash everywhere as well. Needs a lot of work.

Alright, after reading all of the other reviews I really had high hopes for this trail. It was poorly marked and had a number of small loops to get lost on. We really had a hard time getting any sort of flow going. There were a few areas that tested your technical abilities but that didn't make up for the confusion. I won't be going back.

A technical and windy trail with a couple of long uphills. Can be intimidating for new MTBR's (like me) but still alot of fun. Some big down hills and some fast sections...and the freeride bowl is fun.

Trail isnt too badly overgrown...there's just one short section with overgrown kudzu and thorns that you basically have to walk through.

a lot of zigzagging trails packed into a little patch of woods. you end up going a lot of nowhere, but there are some cool little sections. the "freeride bowl" definitely is worth checking out.

This trail is beginner level to intermediate. It has lots of narrow singletrack through the woods with several climbs and some fun, downhill technical sections. None of it is terribly difficult but still extremely fun. The bowl across the street provides lots of fun and entertainment and the trails even extend throughout the neighborhoods. I would definitely recommend.

Trail is a lot of fun. Not so much XC riding, more technical riding with high speed areas and drop offs. The bowl is a ton of fun, but could use some updating (speaking of which, I'd love to help build... anyone know who is in charge?). The trail is easily distinguished, but could use some overall maintenence.

This place is pretty cool. Lots of zig zagging, easy uphills, and worthy drops. Its not well kept, and there is too much zig zagging due to the small amount of land its built on. Not to mention the broken glass (and washing machines) found through the trails. You might want to head north, cross the street and find the jumps (to the right, near the power lines). Pretty fly stuff.
