Mountain Biking 69'er racecourse

  Add a review
#120 of 138 mountain bike trails in Minnesota
#18,390 in the world

The trail is a link up of pavement, gravel, fire road, double track, single track and snowmobile trail which is connected to provide the specific race category distance. The course begins with a descent on asphalt, follows through the town of Lutsen, and then climbs back away from Lake Superior for a thousand feet. The fun begins with a turn onto gravel, then double track, and a continuing series of undulating hills. A loop of narrow double track lies between miles 24 and 30. From Mile 30 to 40, the trail mellows again, on fire road and gravel, before adding small creek crossings for fun and effect. The final 5 miles become double track and finally single track, with well manicured and excellent flowing lines that begin with an unexpected wooden ladder ascent up a left turn. The course ends with a fun ascent up a gravelled hill, in full view of anyone wishing to watch from the start area.
