A good Mt. bike ride is what you get from this trail.Nothing real hard or technical but fantastic views.

We parked at the equestrian parking lot and dropped in on the blue trail; Big Bear Loop. After 5-7miles of really nice curvy singletrack down to the river and around the perimeter I thought the ride was a cream puff but then we we attacked the Allen Mountain trail and others connected to it. Heart rate went up and the climbs were awesome. Extremely well maintained trails BUT still fun to ride. Several fast turny downhills and back up and back down and back up, rinse repeat...phew. Got a solid 3.5 hours of riding on very varied terrain with great views of river. Boardwalk trail was cool before we began our inclines. Would ride it again to learn more about the maze of trails and select a better overall loop route.

Love riding here! Great loops, can cruise or push as hard as you want. Good balance in gradient changes, as well as climbing vs downhill proper. Trails are in excellent condition at the moment; there are a few soft spots... But simply spices things up! Can grind hard solo exercise, or take the the family. And to ice the cake, the views are fantastic!

Great trail system with some awesome views of the Shenendoah River. Some of the trails are shared with horseback riders, but the trails are in great shape. You can get some decent speed and a good workout with the climbs. There are some berms and rock gardens. Overall, I had a blast riding here and will be back!

Overall not a bad ride. You earn your vertical at the beginning but soon the speed picks up with some nice turns. Not horrible with rocks and roots but you will hit a patch when your speed is up and you least expect it. There are a network of trails so grab a map or you might get confused like we did. If your within a hours drive I would recommend it. Also once you're done with the hills you can hit a very flat yet rutted and possibly muddy section down by the Shenandoah river. Good views and good swim for a cool off.
