Mountain Biking A-10
#57 of 115 mountain bike trails in South Carolina
The City of Myrtle Beach gave the Waccamaw Trail Blazers the opportunity to build a single track mountain bike trail in the heart of the Grand Strand. Located in the Market Commons area of Myrtle Beach right next to the Barc Park, the A-10 mountain biking trail is a constant work in progress. Named for the A-10 Bomber, the mountain bike trail holds many of the same characteristics that were synonymous with the rugged, but highly maneuverable aircraft. The bomber, affectionately known as the "Warthog", was ideally suited for close combat operations. This runs parallel with what riders should expect from the trail. Because of the amount of work it took to cut trails and the way the trail winds through the forest the name seems to fit nicely.

Take US 17 (South Kings Highway) to Mallard Lake Drive across from Myrtle Beach State Park. Go north on Mallard Lake Drive until you spot the Barc Park on your right. Turn right onto Center South and drive around to the rear of the the barc park. The A-10 trail head is located on the outside of the fence at the north east corner of the Myrtle Beach Barc Park at Market Commons
Nice little Singletracks. Has some really cool features that pseemingly pop-up out of nowhere. This single track will give you good practice of bike/body separation. Well done guys!!!
Thank |Not the most exciting trail.. easy to follow and a lot of roots, but overall not bad.
Thank |Great if you're near by. People saying full suspension must be nursing home residents(jk jk). My Homegrown was fine. It's by no means a fast ride. I think it helps keep one's low speed riding in tune.
Thank |Horribly overgrown, vines hanging, trees fallen, branches across trail...didn't finish trail just turned around and went back to the car....
Thank |More of an intermediate trail in my opinion. Definitley need a full suspension as there are so many roots. The day my gf and I went there was an enormous fallen tree blocking the trail at about 0.6 in. We had to hand the bikes to each other over the tree to keep riding. But on the other side of the tree there was (what I'm assuming) a spider infestation. I've never seen so many webs and spiders in one area in my whole life (reminded me of the attic in "arachnophobia"). We decided to turn around at that point and go back the way we came. If the tree was cleared out it would have been a lot of fun. It has a bunch of turns and can get tough in some spots. The 1 bridge that is still up is fun if you can get enough speed. Worth visiting if you're in the area.
Thank |This would fall between a beginner and intermediate today with the number of water crossings that shows up. Had a little more rain this morning and some low spots that were dry a day ago were holding water today. I am guessing this is some sort of drainage ditch/creek running through the woods as I had multiple opportunities to get a little wet and muddy today where as a day ago there were only 4 areas that had water. Met another biker and one runner using the trail today as well.
Thank |Short but good for handling skills due to the many twists, turns and roots. Trail has water crossings (at least after a recent rain) of which 2 have bridges, 1 has a bridge that has collapsed and is now an obstacle, 1 can be very deep with a soft bottom.
Thank |I stay close by so I ride to the trail, take a couple laps, cruise through market commons, hit the trail for a few more laps on the way out to the next adventure.
At only a mile in length this little trail isn't going to draw people from very far away. But if you happen to be in the area it is worth checking out. I had fun one morning negotiating the many twists and turns in this small wooded plot. And you can ride as many loops as you want without worrying about getting too lost. It's a great place for a pre-work ride or a quick spin before dinner. A few features will keep your interest piqued.
Thank |I went there expecting some "trail features" and found the trail to be pretty boring. You can't get speed and the trails is rooty. Make sure you ride a full suspension. This is not a place for a hardtail. It will beat you up. The lap takes about 7 minutes to finish. I found the Myrtle Beach State park nature walk was a better experience.
Thank |Not a 5 star, as posted b4 by accident.
Thank |If ya happen to be nearby it could be worth a visit for a quick fix. Small area, twisty with roots. That's about it. But better than nothing.
Thank |I had a hard time finding the trail head. Once I found it, I had to carry my bike 50 yards to the kiosk. There is no path leading to the trail from the parking area. There is no start sign. I did not know which way to go. The trail is full of roots. You need a full suspension bike to ride. My lower back and shoulders hurt from riding it this morning. The turns are very abrupt. You can not get any speed. This is a beginner kids trail. It would be torture to do laps here. There are about 3 forks in the track. Did not know which way to go. I was constantly confused and could not wait to get out. The smell of dog pee was very strong. The smell reminded me of the sidewalks in New York on hot summer days. Not worth the drive. It is only worth riding, it if you are riding around the area.
Thank |The Waccamaw Trail Blazers are adding in obstacles to the trail.
Thank |About 1.5 miles long with tons of turns, this is a good trail to work on bike handling skills. Nothing overly challenging but a solid workout, just plan on doing a few laps. The trail is in a great area where you wouldn't expect.
Thank |Nice little trail in the Myrtle Beach area. Great beginner singletrack. A few switchbacks and obstacles. Very flat course, but can still get a good workout. We had a good time today and will be back again!
Thank |Fun trail that is in a great location. Market Common is a nice area to ride around eat, drink, shop and hit the A-10 all in one afternoon. It is rated a beginner but has some challenging areas
Thank |A fairly flat trail, that is as curvy as a Yellow Belly Sidewinder
