This is a singletrack trail constructed in Fall of 2013. It provides access to Sky Mountain Park from the Aspen side, and can be easily accessed from the Owl Creek Bike Path Trail and nearby Buttermilk ski area parking lot. It connects to the Cozyline Trail at its upper end, which provides access to Sky Mountain Park trail, Skyline, and Deadline. This trail was constructed to replace the now off limits Radar Road (administrative access only).
This trail is a first of its kind for the Aspen / Snowmass area. It's a cross country trail that features many flow trail elements including large, generous in sloped berm turns, dips, and rollers. The trail climbs gently with almost no steep sections to deal with. The fun gets serious when riding in the downhill direction! You'll find a number rollers along the way that offer opportunity for "air" time.
Enjoy big views of the upper valley towards Independence Pass & Aspen Mountain, not to mention the airport runway just below. (Keep in mind that these trails are closed for elk migration from December 1 through May 15.)
Excellent trail. Moderate, well graded singletrack climb to the top of the trail system. From there you can continue climbing up to Skyline trail or bomb down Cozyline trail. The decent down Airline is pure bliss, very fast and flowy.
