Mountain Biking Airport Road Ditches

**   Add a review
#129 of 265 mountain bike trails in Montana
#9,374 in the world

Ride across the intersection and head up the ditch trails along airport road
and up the hill for about 3.5 miles, turn around and head back down,
catching some air along the way on some small jumps. Do not drive a long
ways to ride this, but if you live in Kalispell, you could go hit it up.
.........
In Montana, it is completely legal to run ATV's, dirtbikes, horses, and the
like in the ditches along the highways. This has actually created a rather
vast network of singletrack trails in the highway ditches. While rather flat in
most places, they stay snow free and so are ideal for getting in shape in
the spring time.

This trail is nicely paved. Great ride for an afternoon stroll. Good for kids and people who need to get some therapy. The views of the Rockies and the farm land surrounding the area keep you riding and looking for more beauty of the Flathead. The trail follows along HWY 93 for long stretches. If there is traffic, you will get some exhaust. This would be the biggest con for this trail.

Actually it is illegal to ride 4 wheelers / atvs in the ditches .. Fence line to fence line is still considered highway right of way.

Nice to ride to town and not have to be on the pavement, or to connect to several of the other singletrack trails in the nearby parks. You can build this into a big ride. Not very difficult at all.
