A group of five cyclists stop to rest on a hillside overlooking a scenic green landscape. Two cyclists are adjusting their gear, while another cyclist stands nearby, looking out at the view. Their bicycles are parked on the grass, and the sky is partly cloudy, creating a serene outdoor atmosphere. Alegria mountain bike trail.

#3 of 22 mountain bike trails in Colombia
#4,333 in the world

Climb for about 11 kilometers. You'll pass an orange gate on the left around 7-8k, keep going past that. At 11k, there's an orange gate with a "Private Property" sign on it. This is the start of the trail - the trail is sanctioned, don't worry, you just have to jump over the gate, or if you go up 10 yard further, there's a barb wire gate with signs that say no moto-ing, you can get on the trail that way. Either way, you'll start on double-track going down and pass a huge jump (gapper) on the right, and past that a short bit there's singletrack on your left - take that, not the doubletrack on the right. Ride singletrack through pine forests for a while, and any little offshoot spits you back on the trail, so don't worry. After a while, you'll get to a gate you can squeeze through and into the grassland. Stay on this singletrack the whole way down. You'll cross gates, some locked, others not, through rugged fun Colombian singletrack. At the bottom you'll get to the main paved road that leads into Valle do Cocora on the right, and Salento on the left. Take a left on the road, it's a bit of steep climb for 3k or so, and it takes you back into town. Stop somewhere in the main square and grab a Club Colombia!

Getting there
Looking at the huge staircase at the end of the artisan street, directly in front of the stairs there's a dirt road on the right. Take that road up to the right.
