Great singletrack for beginners, or anyone who wants easy to moderate singletrack. The trail is well maintained with solid log bridges and 2x4 bridges. The main track is a short loop that can be done in 20 minutes easy. The track is on a slight grade to make a nice light climb. Tight switchbacks can add to the challenge for experienced riders who keep their speed up. Also, follow the fire road past the loop connector to the end to find a challenging downhill single track that leads right to the river. Turn around for a very challenging climb to get back to the fireroad.

The trailhead/parking lot is on south side of OH-307 between Bates Road and S County Line Road. If you are unfamiliar with Madison, take route 90 to OH-528 (exit 212). Go south on 528 and make the first left onto 307 (Warner Road). Cross Bates Road and watch for the gravel lot on the right (south). If you hit S County Line, you missed it. Turn around and try again.
Once parked, ride south past the gate on the gravel fire road. The connector to loop is on the right; there should be a ‘Trail’ sign posted. Connector hits loop. (I suggest counter-clockwise, but it doesn’t matter. Do both). You can follow the fire road past the loop connector to its end; here is the start of a downhill singletrack to the river.
Good trail, lots of technical spots, good downhill, fun bridges good for beginners and experts.
Thank |Beginner to intermediate trail. Trail is ok, unfortunately it's too short. Main loop is 2 miles, short expert trail drops to the river. 1/2 mile gravel DT to the river.
Thank |Rode it 3 times today short trail. Has few technical up hills with tree roots that can slow momentum which adds to a good workout. Very well maintained. Fire road to river has a tree down in the middle of it at the moment.
Thank |Good fun, push the pace as it is a beginner trail.
Thank |love this trail!!!! rode it today conditions were dry. whoever maintains this trail does an excellent job
Thank |Rode it today. Some soft spots through out, but made it through. Love this trail, its my go to ride.
Thank |Unfortunately I went two days after the last rain. From the looks of it I wasn't the first one though. It has some challenges but not many although overall it was a good ride and yes short so you can go around twice in opposite directions. I also rode down the wide gravel path to the bottom next to the river which was all downhill to my liking and a great rest spot before going back up which was close to torture for my legs but I loved it. I am only visiting the area and plan on riding this again tomorrow with the GoPro.
Thank |Me being a beginner, this offered some good practice. Not too difficult, but still some minor technical spots make this fun and a slight challenge.
Thank |Hogback Ridge is overall an easier trail to ride, but suspension is a definite plus for a few of the obstacles. Had to get off the bike a few times. Lots of roots and some rough short ascents which you will need to get some momentum to get up in good shape. Trail seems to stay pretty dry, no real sloppy sections. Great single track if your a beginner like me, with a few challenges.* Review edited 11/22/2009* Review edited 12/13/2009* Review edited 12/13/2009

Thank |Hogback is a fairly short singletrack with a little of everything. There arent many ups and downs, however it can be pretty technical in spots. There is a creek crossing and a few log bridges. Takes about 20-25 mins to complete but easy to make multiple loops. Not a bad trail for extra practice.* Review edited 7/1/2009
