Mountain Biking Awakening
#796 of 1,392 mountain bike trails in Colorado
While Awakening is designated a downhill-only trail it is still very much a
beginner singletrack trail. You definitely do not need a downhill bike to ride it; a
hardtail would be totally at home on this trail! A couple of inches of suspension
might be a little more comfortable, though. In fact, riding a full-on DH rig on
this trail was actually a little work in spots as it was so much flatter than other
trails. Even carrying good speed you still had to do a little pedaling. Of course,
it's not the end of the world.... earn those turns!
Bottom line: the Evolution Bike Park has plenty of terrain that's prefect for the
neophyte downhiller.

From the town of Crested Butte, drive north up the mountain on Hwy. 135 for
about 2 miles. Once in the town of Mount Crested Butte, just follow signs for
Crested Butte Mountain Resort. Park in one of the day parking areas.
This is a beginner trail at Evolution. Perfect for kids!

To build an entire green run from top to bottom, ride Primer to Awakening (this trail) to Warming House.* Review edited 8/11/2011
