There is a monster climb ("Climb 57" on Strava) up to the cross. After that the terrain levels out as you loop your way back to the highway. Some gravel, rock, but mainly just dirt trails after the initial climb.

It starts with a 3 kilometers climb, mostly compacted soil with a lot of loose small to medium size boulders (rocks). Requires decent technical skills and solid fitness.
Once the climb is completed you will find a very steep descent with massive amount of loose rocks which make it almost impossible to ride (100 meters long). After this you can choose in climbing to San Jose Buena Vista town or taking the road back to the highway. Which is not that fun.

There is a big, rock strewn climb shortly after starting. Try making it up to the top, by the white cross, without stopping! Coming down this hill is a blast too. The rest of the loop isn't too technical and only minor elevation change.
