This trail is actually part of the Blue Diamond system that is mostly on the north side of highway 160 and can be linked to from many trails in that area. Unlike the trails in Blue Diamond I found this one to have fairly good signage at the intersections. All singletrack with a slow steady climb leading to fun, technical downhills.
From the tunnel under highway continue straight through the first intersection and follow single track up an easy grade for the first 3 miles. Stay Left at the first two intersections and continue on up until you reach Badger Pass itself- great view and another intersection. Take a Right and climb up a short steep grade to get on top of the ridge. You are now heading North and a 1 mile technical downhill run followed by a right turn and a short climb. Take a Left and then another Left .3 mi later for a long downhill run to the highway. Go under the highway again through another tunnel and right towards the traihead.
This may sound confusing but its really not, this area is all open and very hard to get lost, especially if you have gotten a local map. Because this area is all exposed it is prone to extreme heat, please take lots of water and sunscreen.
The badger loop is a long climbing trial. The reward at the end of it is bombing down switchbacks and fast trails back to highway 159. What a blast.
Thank |We came to Vegas for some Spring Break family riding and had a blast out at the Late Nite trail head. Head west from the parking lot for some beginner friendly riding. We rode the Beginner Loop and a bit of the Inner Loop over to the Blue Diamond trail. What a blast!!! I have a 10 year old who is a decent rider a a 45 year old wife who is very cautious and both had to walk just one rocky climb out of a wash. This trail has some REALLY fun flowy sections that had all 6 of us hootin' and hollerin'.
Head south out of the parking to ride 3 Mile Smile. My 18 year old and I rode this trail to it's completion at the south end and loved it. I'm 50 and starting to show some caution in my trail selection but there was nothing that was over my head including White Rhino and some switchbacks at Techno. Coming back down is amazing, with enough obstacles to keep it interesting but fast enough to keep it fun. I just follow my 18 year old and watch him disappear in the distance and remember the days when I was fearless. This is a MUST RIDE if your in the Vegas area.
Thank |For every level of skill ans ability, take a run with Mc ghie's staff they are awesome
Thank |I just got back into MTB and found this trail to be a great intro back into it. Its a great somewhat strenous 3 mi uphill. Once you get to the top of the pass, there is a fairly steep set of switchbacks. They are pretty easy though. Once you get down, its a great DH run pretty much the rest of the way. With a few small uphills along the way. Great ride.
Thank |Rode this for the first time on 11/8/2008. Awsome trail. I'm and extreme beginner I was really impressed with the trail, its well marked and VERY enjoyable. The downhill ride is a blast!!
