Mountain Biking Bernard Mountain Trail
#293 of 549 mountain bike trails in North Carolina
Fun, fast narrow downhill run. Full of switchbacks and ridge lines. There is one man-made drop. Nothing too gnarly, but your focus is required. 900+ feet of descent. Either ride back up the trail or take a 3.5 mile paved road back to the parking lot.
Beautiful views of the Blue Ridge area from the trail and the paved road.

Take Mill Creek Road exit off I-40 or Old Highway 70 east just outside (east) of Black Mountain, North Carolina. Continue just over a mile after the pavement turns to gravel to the parking area. From there, it’s a 1.5 mile ride up the gravel road to the trail.
Great ride…over 900’ of descent in less than 3 miles. Each individual will have to answer for themselves if it is worth the climb to and from the trail.
