Mountain Biking Bethunes Gully
#36 of 193 mountain bike trails in South Island
Bethunes Gully is the sad old siren of Dunedin mountain biking. There is little magic in these old tracks that snake their way through pine trees on either side of the Mount Cargill walking track. Desperate downhill riders might find them useful for training.
One trail crosses the road and links into the trail around Forrester Park. That trail also has little to recommend it but if you're there in March be sure to stop to sample the raspberries which are delicious...

From central Dunedin head north and take North Road up North East Valley until it forks when you take Norwood Street on the left. Just after Forrester Park turn left under the Bethunes Gully sign as the road starts to climb. The car park is 200 metres up this gravel road. It's also the car park for the Mount Cargill walking track, a children's playground and a barbeque area. The easiest way to find it is to use your singletracks app.

Actually quite fun with some sections flowing very well.
Thank |Dunedin riders have voted with their tyres on these trails - they don't appear to get a lot of use and seem tired and neglected.
