Mountain Biking Big Loop

***   Add a review
#157 of 549 mountain bike trails in North Carolina
#3,382 in the world

When you go in as you go down, go the the left and go down hill or you'll be riding up a wall when you loop around. After you finally hit level land, you'll go over a bridge. Turn right and that completes the loop; keep straight and you'll connect to the greenway, whaich will take you to Owls Roost. Stay on the Greenway and go down around a curve and you'll get to the Little Loop. Nothing special about this trail, just a warmup for the Fat Tire Sizzler, Owl's Roost.

Getting there
The Big Loop is at Bur-Mill Park, by the Swimming Pool. Go up the walkway a bit and you'll see a big wooden sign, if you see the playground, you've gone too far, turn around.

This trail is what it is. A beginner trail. When I decided I was going to take my daughter somewhere easy to give her a taste of what mountain biking is like, this is where we went.

This trail is perfect for a beginner. The trail is nice and wide with no real obstacles.

hit this trails with the boys this weekend. it was a lot of fun, we came in from the green way and went right at the fork. All the up hill was all at once, new - mod. riders may have to push the hill, but it was a long down hill ride back to the green way. lots of smiles and laughs from me and my fellows.

Great for new riders, easy to learn going through gears with some hills to prepare for harder trails, short and sweet nothing technical to worry about.

For new riders this trail would be a 4, but experienced riders might find it less entertaining. Connects with the Greenway, so slap on some hybrid tires and get some endurance training in. Still a fun easy trail though, excellently maintained. Great recovery ride after hitting some of the harder trails in the area.

Just a bunch of old logging road and double track. You can really push yourself and ride fast and hard to make it a little more interesting.

I enjoyed Big Loop today since both Owls Roost and Wild Turkey were closed to the rainy weather we have had lately.
Nice wide open trails, nothing to technical either. Just a fun time in the woods.
