Mountain Biking Bigfork Ditch Loop

**   Add a review
#131 of 265 mountain bike trails in Montana
#9,710 in the world

In Montana, it is completely legal to run ATV's, dirtbikes, horses, and the
like in the ditches along the highways. This has actually created a rather
vast network of singletrack trails in the highway ditches. While rather flat
in most places, they stay snow free and so are ideal for getting in shape in
the spring time. The also do have several interesting spots, and offer some
opportunites to air over and off of driveways and the like. For this loop,
start at the Cenex and head out on Swan Highway/Hwy 83. Follow it
around the bend, and take a left on Hwy 209 at the T junction with the Bar.
Follow that, and take a right across the bridge and head up the trails on
Swan River Rd. (Or, hook up with the Old Bigfork Canyon Road trail and
head into town.) When you hit Hwy 83, by the Echo Lake Cafe, hang a left
and head back to where you started.

This is only really fun during the spring/fall when everything higher up is snowed in.
