The trail has four distinct seasons because of the high elevation location. The rail trail begins at 4200' on the east side of the Sierra and Cascade Ranges in Susanville, climbs 1300' to a high point of 5500' at Westwood Junction then drops 400' to its terminus in Westwood at elevation 5100'. 395 to susanville c.a. or contuie on 395 up to westwood rark at trail head
Great for beginners or anyone that wants to ride through one of the prettiest canyons around. We did an out an back from the bottom in Susanville. It was raining pretty had so we turned around at Devils Corral. It was a beautiful ride. We did a little of the single track on the side and it was NICE. Next time I'll do all of the "South Side Singletrack".
Thank |Great ride from Susanville up through the canyon, especially scenic in the spring and fall. One of the best examples of Rails to Trails Ive ridden yet. Perfect for novices or just a great cardio ride.
Thank |Very pretty trail along Susan river . Great for beginners or more experienced riders doing the full round trip from Susanville to Westwood 50+ miles * Review edited 6/29/2008
