Mountain Biking Bluefield City Park
#90 of 300 mountain bike trails in Virginia
Fun mix of single-track and double-track in a small city park. Everything from a gravel family tail to
Intermediate level trails. Easy / warm-up trail on south side of creek. The rest of the trail system will make you
work as it is either going up or down. Large variety of riding from tight and twisty to open and fast. 6-7 mile
loops are possible, or mix and match as the double-track connects most of the single-track. Uploaded track is
condensed. Double-track up one side of the ravine, single-track down the other. Go ride, explore have fun. Trail
drains fairly well after rain.

From Rt 460 exit onto Rt 102 north, go 100 yds and turn right on College Ave. (Wal-Mart and large shopping
center will be on your right). Go 1 mile and turn left on Stadium Dr. Go 300 Yds and turn left into the park, go
to the end of the large parking lot on the right between the tennis court and ball field and the TH will be directly in front of you.
This is a gem and if you are in the area you should ride it. There's a lot of variety. Parts are steep and wide. Some sections are narrow and flowy. It's all beautiful and well-maintained. I first rode the area decades ago owing to the fact that I married someone from the town. I just rode it again (Sep 2019) and it's even better. I often did not know where I was (the trails criss-cross - pardon me but I think of them as in-bred) but it's hard to get lost in such a small footprint. Despite being close to town you find yourself expecting to discover the Hatfield and McCoys fighting over a still as you ride.
Thank |Also, if you have small kids, the park is outstanding with a wonderful playground and even a mini-train.
I would call this intermediate because there aren't many obstacles, however if your not used to hills this big, it can be a tough ride up. Expect to push your bike at least a couple times. I rode the sleeping wolf trail clockwise and it took me about 30 minutes. Loved the trails and the park is beautiful.
Thank |Totally surprised with the quality of this system. The Family Fun trail is a wide, flat, crushed gravel trail but the other trails are much more entertaining, with enough climbs, descents, and switchbacks for an skill level. Straddling the Virginia/West Virginia border the condition of the trails are excellent. Impressive.
Thank |Very fun. Lots of switchbacks! Lucky to live a few blocks from this badass trail
