Mountain Biking Boggy Draw Loop
#227 of 1,392 mountain bike trails in Colorado
Start riding on Road W about 0.2 miles. Drop into the singletrack on the right. Pick up a "Big Loop" map at the bike shop. Lots of trails in the Dolores/Cortez area.

From Cortez, take Hwy 145 north 10 miles to Dolores. In Dolores turn left on 11th St (turns into CR 31). About 3 miles on 11th, and turn right on Road W. East on W about 1 miles, cross the cattle grate and park in the lot in the left.

This is the second time I have ridden this trail. It is very fun...twisty singletrack through beautiful terrain. The scrub oak is turning colors which makes it even better.
Thank |I've ridden this trail both directions and both are pretty fun. A lot of folks bitch about the climb back out of the canyon, but its really not that bad. Great ride. Best in the Boggy.
Thank |Looks like all of the trail is GPS'ed, so that gives you lots of elevation data.
Thank |Almost all smooth singletrack, few rocks. Little elevation changes, so it flows very well. Wife loved it. This one can be overlooked with the other trails in the area, but it was a great final day for us, after Phil's World. Great for the less than gonzo riders.
Be careful about the map at the TH; it's not accurate. To pick up Boggy, going CCW, you need to go east on the road for about 1/4 mile. Trail starts on the right side. Do NOT cross the road and take that trail; it is the Maverick trail.
Only trail ridden up boggy draw. Great views & scenery, a must to ride again. Roughly a 2 hr. ride, cross a few river beds & a little muddy in spots. Definitely recomended...
Thank |The map at the trailhead is bad, partly because of scale issues (too small a scale to show crucial intersections), and maybe more.
I did the Italian Canyon Loop from the East leg of the Mavericks Loop, which probably adds a couple of miles to the overall distance. It loops around and back on itself quite a bit, which was very confusing. I was thinking about turning around, but stuck with it and the latter part was relatively consistent with the map.
FWIW, there is relatively simple access to the Boggy Draw trail from a road you come to shortly after starting to parallel the fence when doing a counterclockwise loop.
Thank |Most of the trails in the Boggy Draw network are fast, smooth, and nontechnical. That's true for most of this loop, too. However, if you hope to clean this loop, however, you'll have to be on your game. There are more things going on that'll keep you on the edge of your seat.
Thank |Probably the sweetest loop, overall, in the Boggy Draw area. Smooth, loopy, fast singletrack!
Thank |This is a nice practice loop for mountain bike learners (as long as they get off and push through a challenging gully towards the end of the loop.
Thank |Nice, fast intermediate level ride. One of several nice loops in Boggy Draw.
Thank |This is a well-groomed intermediate trail system with a couple different loops. If you start on the east side of the parking lot you will access Italian Canyon. Nothing too technical and only a few moderate climbs. The views are incredible. Lots of reward for not too much work.
