Mountain Biking Brook Park
#119 of 171 mountain bike trails in North Island
If you're ever in Te Kuiti, the sheep sheering capital of the world,(!!) don't despair. There is a nice little bike trail there. Brook Park is a farm reserve with walking tracks and a 3km bike trail that's worth at least a couple of circuits. It meanders through tree spangled sheep paddocks with enough undulation to give you a workout. It's easy but not a dawdle. If there aren't many people around you'd probably be welcome to ride the walking tracks and across the paddocks too. There are interesting storyboards here and there detailing the farm's history and before-its-time environmental management... Don't run over any sheep!

Head north towards Hamilton from the centre of Te Kuiti. Before you leave town but after you cross the railway line look out for the Bosco Cafe on your left. Brook Park is right behind it - you'll see the sign and driveway.
Most towns in New Zealand like to have something to offer mountain bikers and Te Kuiti's offering fits in with the character of the town which bills itself as the sheep shearing capital of the world. The mountain bike meanders around a sheep farm park! It's a pleasant ride. Do it twice and it's a good workout.
